Teach him a lesson for what exactly? Some of you people are absolutely nuts.

http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/webCl...shoe&cmd=wc I've tuned them out in recent minutes though. It was pretty funny for awhile but not they're just rambling.

I'm going to test my Eklund influence again. About to send him http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/ccustance.tsn/194440/ suggesting Wings/Hossa deal not necessarily off. We'll see how long it takes him to say something or post it. You heard it here first...I'm about to become an insider!

Like some of us have said, not so fast on Hossa and the Wings marriage being over... http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/ccustance.tsn/194440/ Discussions between Hossa and Wings will continue Filed under: DetroitRedWings MarianHossa E-MAIL | PRINT | COMMENTS 0 Sporting News - User Comments Jul 01, 2009 12:30 AM report abuse The chances of Marian Hossa signing with the Red Wings aren't great, but it still could happen. Despite reports on the eve of free agency that Hossa had turned down an offer from the Red Wings, the possibility of a deal still exists. An NHL source told SportingNews.com late Tuesday night that discussions between the two sides will continue. It's not an issue of either side wanting to get a deal completed, it's a matter of finding common ground. The Red Wings would like to keep Hossa at a annual salary cap number in the $4 million range, which would be considerably less than he'd earn on the open market. He earned $7.45 million this season and led the Red Wings with 40 goals. It's safe to assume he'd be worth at least that much if he's willing to explore the idea of playing for teams with money to spend like the Los Angeles Kings or Minnesota Wild. On Tuesday, Detroit GM Ken Holland didn't sound like a GM on the verge of getting a deal done. "I'm not optimistic," Holland told the Detroit Free Press' Helene St. James. "I've told [Hossa's agent] Ritch Winter we'd love to keep him, but he's hoping to do a lot better than what we're able to do."

He's not picking up phone calls with the moronic press people. He and Holland have been talking as has clearly been noted in nearly every article. Stupid writers and media outlets exist because people like you don't read. Stop that now.

Yeah. That's why I really don't like the Flip deal......still my least favorite deal in recent memory. And you're right, Huds has done and proven more than Flip thus far in terms of earning a paycheck. Not every player has to be a 2-way specialist. Offensive specialists are necessary as well and people will pay good money for them. You can have great D and hold a team to 1 or 2 goals every game, but if you can't score 2 or 3 goals a game, you still don't win.
-
I like Huds and I think it's reasonable to suggest he's worth $3 million to some teams. Is he worth $3 million on the Wings? No. Hate to say it, but no. Maybe later, but not now. We're not in a situation to gamble that kind of money on him if you ask me. It wouldn't likely be the worst deal in memory but that doesn't make it a good deal.
-
I'm thinking this too. I'm really not sold on it being done. I think he'll hear out some other offers, but I don't think this is done with the Wings especially with the way things are looking for Sammy/Huds.
-
I will feel like hanging myself if we were to sign Hossa. Even if you're just trying to make a joke, let me be clear: NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
No, you won't, but that doesn't make you right and Hossa wrong by any means.

I tuned into Eklunds little podcast a few minutes ago to see if he was flipping out about Heatley and they're going on and on about the $4 million muddying things up now despite it being on TSN that they've got 24 more hours. I send him a blunt Twitter more or less saying "How about you check TSN. They've got 24 hours." About 15 seconds later the podcast explodes with Eklund's info and now he's twittering "Sens have another 24 hours before they have to pay bonus. There I can finally say it. It is on TSN." Too funny. Eklund's worthless for descent info but he provides some of the best hockey comedy out there. These guys talking all of this madness up are just a riot. Make no mistake though, I'm not laughing with them so much as at them.

Easy? You think Hollands going to match $3 million for Hudler if he won't go over $4 million for Hossa? No way in hell. Sammy's worth a good deal more money than he's going to get from the Wings and he deserves it. He's never made his money. No one can blame him for wanting to capitalize on it now. Hudler? The fact that Holland said they're a bit apart and the agent wants more doesn't bode well for things if you ask me. Someone will throw a bit of money at Hudler and they know the Wings aren't going to dig that deep for him and they'll be able to do it and not even have to give up a #1 pick. Hudler doesn't have to sign it, but I don't have the highest of hopes. Soooooo...like I've been saying for awhile, I'm not too worried about losing our other guys considering there's a real good chance we're going to lose them anyways.
-
It doesn't sound like Sammy's staying to me much at all. And planning to keep Hudler is different than pulling it off. If he gets offered anywhere near $3 million, there's no way he stays.
-
What an ugly, ugly situation.
-
I'm not liking it...Sammy leaving and Hossa and it'll be easy to lose Hudler. That will not be good, but again, I'm not sold on Hossa being totally over. Improbable? Yeah. I would've said it was far more improbable that anything would be done last year though too as would we all. We'll see...
-
I don't think it works like that. I don't think anyone was thinking like that on the Wings. It's not like people were lazy. People just made countless stupid plays. Giveaways galore. Kronwall was frightening more often than not. And it didn't get tremendously better in the playoffs. Bottom line, losing goals is not a good thing. I've preached this for years: we've only struggled in the playoffs when we struggle to score. We've never had a year in recent memory where we got blown out. We always lose because we struggle to put the puck in the net. Losing goal scorers is not a good thing. We absolutely will have more struggles next year no matter what, but I'm a little worried (to say the least...) if we lose Huds, Hossa and Sammy.
-
We do? What would this last season have looked like without Hossa's 40 goals? Then imagine we strip Sammy's goals away too. Maybe even Huds. Do we have enough scoring when we drop 80-90 goals potentially from 3 guys? Maybe if our defense plays better than last year... If not.................
-
We'll see, but I'm really not so sure Sammy will be around. It's anyone's guess what he'll get offered from other teams, but I have little doubt that it'll be a lot more than the Wings will be looking to offer considering they want to throw $4 million at Hossa. I feel the same about Hudler.

Here it is, but again, there's some recycled quotes here and no definite answers. http://www.detnews.com/article/20090630/SP...ee-agent-market Marian Hossa appears ready to test free-agent market Ted Kulfan / The Detroit News Detroit -- NHL free agency begins Wednesday and Marian Hossa looks likes he's going to be part of it. General manager Ken Holland and Hossa's agent Ritch Winter talked again Tuesday but came to no agreement. Hossa looks like he'll test free agency. Advertisement "It certainly appears that way," Holland said. "As I've said all along, we only have so much cap room. We have players that I'm not interested in losing." Winter wasn't available for comment. Holland also said he'll talk again with the representative for Mikael Samuelsson Wednesday morning in an effort to retain Samuelsson, who is an unrestricted free agent. Tomas Kopecky, the Wings other unrestricted free agent, will test the market and likely won't return to the Wings. Holland also said the organization will not re-sign veteran forwards Darren McCarty and Aaron Downey.
-
They have. Detroit News I believe. HOWEVER... I'm guessing this is all based on a Holland text when asked if he heard anything from Hossa and if he was going to free agency and he apparently has said he's heard nothing so it appears so. I'm still not convinced it's over until Hossa signs with someone else. It has nothing to do with sloppy hope. I'm just not convinced he'll get the money he wants from even a halfway descent team nor am I convinced the Wings are going to have an easy time signing other guys. If Sammy looks unlikely, maybe Holland bends a little day of and sweetens the deal just a smidge and Hossa signs. We'll see...
-
I agree. I would probably give up more than Holland to keep him.
-
So that's why he offered a Hossa a contract and was waiting on him?
-
I'm more concerned about the possibility of losing 3 players who score goals.
-
I'm guessing that's one less descent team Hossa could sign with if true.
