Cliche fanboy remarks like that make it almost unnecessary for me to even bother illustrating your ignorance on the matter of goaltending and hockey in general. So I'll just say, hey, you keep on trucking...

What on earth do you expect the goalies to do when, as you say, only one guy looked even a bit interested? It seems to me that we ought to be concerned more with all those guys who weren't concerned over the guys at the end of the line...

I'm not worried about Osgood. He knows more than anyone that this game is not on him. It won't phase him. If he started it would be another thing, but this was a complete trainwreck of a game before he reached for his helmet.

Yes in many ways. But games like these and the fact that we've had so many 3-4+ GA games this year no matter who's in goal really affirm the fact that there is a very big defensive problem with this team. Considering the trade deadline is days away, it's kinda coming to a head especially with a game like this. People say, "oh, we're still winning games." Yeah, true, and I dig it. But say we hadn't signed Hossa and his 34 goals thus far this year, our GF goes down significantly. No one was available and no one on this team can step up and score like he has this year. We're at 234 goals now and if we didn't have Hossa, I think we'd be at 210 give or take 5 or so. Now, consider that our GA right now is 179 and that's with Hossa, a great defensive-forward. Rolling him on a line is a major help to the D. He's another Selke level guy. Take him away and conservatively, maybe we have 185-190 GA. I mean, sure, that means we're still outscoring opponents, but how many close games have we won this year? How many times have we had to score 4-5 to win? Take Hossa out and it's a totally different season if you ask me. A season in which we actually might've been scraping to get into the playoffs with everyone else. Why? Defense. All season. It needs to get fixed. And 7-0. I seriously don't feel like this is real.

Yeah, can't say I disagree. I'd like to see a veteran steady d-man come in. Nothing flashy. No big name. Just someone to push our 5-6 guys a little bit. Jamie Macounish.......

He hustles more than ANYONE on the team this year game in, game out. I haven't seen anyone who hustles into the zone as hard as him and then on the turn of a dime he'll hustle back to the defensive end and might even beat the D there.

Sometimes you've got to define your own definition of success. Low or high, you celebrate when you are successful. Perhaps they are wise in the grand scheme of life for at least aiming for something somewhat attainable? Yeah, wow... Shoot me.

This game might've had some legs if they had've called the Kopecky goal right. I'm not bitter, you get some calls, you lose some, but it certainly would've made the game a bit more interesting.

This is definitely one of the worst games I can remember. Pathetic. I knew when Lilja got his ass handed to him that they'd score on their inevitable power-play due to the initial play. How could they not score at that point? Such a pathetic effort tonight. We need another steady, depth d-man on the cheap. Truly. I'd be more comfortable going into the playoffs with another steady, stay at home d-man and Jimbo Howard starting then our present defensive situation and Bob Luongo. True story. I actually think our D is that bad this year.

Man.... And "win" tonight is starting to look like "let's just try to not get shutout...

That's what I've been saying for 2 months now. While everyone's been busy hating on Osgood because it doesn't take much thought, I've been far more worried with how sloppy our D has been. Considering the guys we have, we just should not be making the mistakes we have made all year long and the inconsistency is just frightening. Considering the fact that we're leading the league in scoring, I don't think it's hurt that so much, but it could go there if panic arises in the playoffs. But this sloppy D hasn't helped the goalies at all. If you really look at Conklin's stats as they break down game to game, he really isn't having as great of a season as it sometimes appears. And I'm not blaming him. Just like Osgood for much of the season, there have been games where they're just left hanging out to dry all over the place. It's ridiculous. And there's 6 D-men a night and then a bunch of forwards that need to play better in the defensive end. 1 goalie a night. Osgood hasn't been all there this year, but there are 6 guys in front of him that are just as far gone if not more so. That's a problem.

Conks can share a couple with the D, but the D absolutely had a healthy hand in all 5.

It looks like our D is on their 5th hour of playing pond hockey out there. Pathetic effort. Just pathetic. We need a Datsyuk goal now.

Are you people hating on the goalies out of your damn minds? Do you know anything about hockey?????? Do you even know what defense means? Yeah, defense. We don't have any right now. Luongo couldn't gonna do s*** for us the way the D's playing this season.

Trust me, I'm not among the Ozzie haters. I call it how it is. I didn't say he played great. But these plays should not be happening. People have ripped on the goalies like crazy, mainly Osgood for certain, but our defense has played even worse than him if you ask me this year.

Holy s***. I wrote my post after the 3rd goal that I was replaying on DVR and I fast-forward and it's 4-0 on a breakaway. Still, D, unreal. Gotta pull Conklin after that, but D!!!!!!! DEFENSE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THESE PLAYS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unbelievable. What a start...again, y'all effing piss and moan about goalies, and sure, we want ours to play well, but this D is infinitely more worrisome. Conklin would've liked to control that better, but again, the fact that we're even allowing these plays to happen at all is just unbelievable.

This board has goalie turretz syndrome. It's not funny or frustrating anymore. It's just straightup depressing to think there are so many people out there who have the audacity to think they're bringing some fresh and worthwhile to the table. It's like the board is stuck in a Groundhog Day style timeloop every day with this stuff...

Depth defenseman at most. This team will come around for the playoffs.
