Good to hear.
-
Colorado's got as many shots already as they did in the first 2 periods last game...Osgood will have to stay sharp for this one.
-
We'll even it up here. We're winning this game. I mean that quite authoritatively.

Is this a Vs. issue or a FSD issue? It seems Vs. would be blacked out so as to encourage people to watch the local feed as I'm sure FSD has to pay good money to get it...maybe? I'm not up on TV regulations and politics. And way to hit a guy and let in a run. Finish this damn thing! Goodness, now a pitching change... Ok, here it goes, Game 3... Phew...
-
It's 6-2...you'd hope they'd have a little sense...
-
So umm, Vs just blacked out on me and these damn Tigers gotta get through 1.5 more innings...

If there's one thing I have confidence in Holland in, it's that he'll get a deal done for guys like Z that pleases all parties involved. He made it happen for Datysuk, then got Homer done at a great price, has the best goalie at $1.5 million done for 3 years, kept Lids for well below what he could be asking for. I mean, sure, he's not perfect, but more often than not, he comes pretty close considering the real world doesn't function like the armchair GM's X-Box games.

This is why I've been more or less an Osgood supporter throughout most of the season. I was a little wary of both goalies February-March, but in retrospect, we did have the Griffins on defense which doesn't really help. I've seen hints of this since he returned to the Wings but until Hasek went down, he hasn't really had a chance to really show it. It's a situation almost similar to Franzen. Hints of brilliance here and there but no stage to really show it off. Now that they've got their chance, they're making waves. You've gotta pay a bit of extra respect to his Sv. % as well because the reality of the matter is that Detroit doesn't give up a ton of shots and when they do give up shots, the opposing teams have to work pretty hard to generate legitimate scoring chances. He doesn't get 10 or so extra soft shots a game to pad his numbers like most goalies. You could say the strong D helps the numbers and that's certainly the case with GAA, but again, with Sv. %, you've gotta look at the fact that opposing teams have to make great plays to get shots which puts him on the spot more. But he's so strong positionally most of the time that he's right there to take care of business. GAA can lie about a goalie, Sv. %, not so much...

I've gotta admit, I really didn't think they would at all, but I really wanted them to...
-
I've got a funny feeling that this is going to get tied up...
-
Yeah, I need something else to watch. That's what I hate about the first round being over...less hockey to watch...
-
Oh the Habs are going to win for sure and I will drink in their honor.
-
Yes I do. I totally get you. I'd love for Montreal to come back here. That'd be a great, great achievment for this rather bland Monday.

Again, do you guys not see the distinction between the Wings that Budaj faced and the Wings that Theo faced? I think if Detroit comes out and plays hard and they start Budaj, he's going to get lit up just like Theo. You start Theo and you hope that he's healthy and pissed and ready to elevate his game in order to hold off the Wings onslaught. This isn't as simple as Osgood/Hasek. Osgood's got a lot more experience, has won a Cup on his own back and had a great year more or less playing in a starting role. Budaj doesn't have those factors working for him.
-
Budaj hasn't seen the Wings out of the gates yet though. The Wings he's seen are no where near as terrifying as the Wings Theo had to deal with. I'm not saying I wouldn't try Budaj though necessarily so much as saying that if the Wings play like the did out of the gates in the last couple games, he'll get lit up just like Theo. At that point, I'd likely rather have Theo in net. If one is going to handle that better, it'll be Theo.
-
Brilliant analogy. I think you're dead on with this one. I don't think many people in this city didn't love Shanny for what he meant to the team through the years, but it was just time for him to move on if he didn't want to start making that harder and harder to do. Detroit's a tough place for stars to die if they just flat-out die completely come playoff time. If Yzerman can win a Conn Smythe on one leg, these older stars better be able to do something in the playoffs. Or so we think...
-
I understand why he did it, but I still want a shirt. I think it'd be cooler without an NHL license emblazoned on it anyways..
-
Tis a bit scary to consider but I think we'll be ok...
-
If he's healthy, it's Theo, no doubt about it. Similarities do not automatically equate to correlations.
-
So Osgood pretty much totally redeemed himself in the 3rd. Dumb and Dumber style. It'll be a series!
-
For the 937th time, no one said the team didn't play a big part in it, but how many back to back goals did Hasek let in again? How many deflating goals? Right.
-
I'm not turning on Ozzie, I'm calling a soft goal a soft goal. I still have plenty of faith in Osgood to be the guy. He hasn't played bad, but you see why you can't give up soft goals in the playoffs. Again, I'm not turning because he let in 1. I haven't forgotten how it went with the other option in Nashville...not sure how much that says for Osgood, but it's enough to keep me in his corner...
-
s***, nice couple saves there to get the Ozzie chant going...good to see him come back hard there after this period. Can't flip about the 3rd goal but it was the 3rd goal and that ******* 2nd goal was weak and a momentum goal and that's on Osgood. So, umm, no more goals against in the 3rd...
