I think the best case scenario is to sweep and get the rest at this point. It's looking like we won't have to worry about Anaheim and maybe not even San Jose. I'd like to be physically rested if we end up playing Calgary or any other team that's a bit more in "scrap" mode. We've got the skill to beat any team in our conference and I think we can go head to head with the skilled teams of Anaheim or San Jose any way it shakes down and come out ahead barring serious injury or goaltending issues. The scrappier teams worry me a bit more if we're worn out or nursing injuries. Sweep it up and give Stuart, Holmstrom, etc. more days to focus on conditioning as opposed to worrying about getting beat up and injured. And I don't care what anyone says about Dom needing more games to keep his stride, I feel like he's more held together with band-aids this year than ever so more rest I think may hurt him a bit initially but help him moving on. Has he had a 2-month stretch this year without an injury? I don't think so, so again, sweep and rest!

I'm thinking that if Nashville's going to win a game and start turning this series around, it'll be tonight. If they lose tonight, it's over Wednesday. That said, I think it could be a tight one. They've got home ice and they haven't been annihilated yet. They've got plenty to build off of in the first two games despite the losses. If Ellis keeps it tight which he likely will, I could see us losing this game. I'm not trying to be pessimistic because I think there are just as many reasons why the Wings can win it and go on to finish them off Wednesday. I'm just saying, I'm feeling like this one's '50-50' if any one is. The Wings will have to play pretty hard I think no matter which way it goes to be in a good position for game 4. If they win I think they'll have to grind it out and if they lose, they better lose it in a close manner or I wouldn't be shocked to see Nashville win Game 4. That said, I really hope we sweep! Extra rest and more time for me to study/practice for finals next week!

Are you serious? The same problems Hasek's had all year (consistency, fast terrible goals, poor positional play) that people have called out all year are obviously still a problem and you're upset that we're pissed about it now that it's happening when it counts more than ever????

Him and the post if he's lucky.
-
Shameful my ass. Play this s***ty is going to inspire a response as it should.
-
A tirade of profanity just ensued... And people wonder why I've been concerned about consistency with Hasek... (FUMING BEYOND MEASURE)

Chris Chelios is my hero. May I live forever! But may he live forever and a day! Because I wouldn't want to be here with him... *adapted from BB King speech about Eric Clapton

It was good to see Draper with some jump in his play after last years abysmal post-season. Everyone on our team stepped it up last year in the playoffs sans Draper in my opinion. Looks like he's intent on not letting that happen again.

I would leave McCarty for now as the more he plays, the more potential he has to be "Downey-Plus" as his overall game is better. Other than that you've got guys with similar roles, though you can't say enough about what Downey's meant to this team. He's a great guy to have around to say the least. No way you take out Chelios. I wouldn't be surprised to see Abelhoweveryouspellit in at some point.

They lost Foote and Federov at the deadline and they've got no hope for the playoffs! They're half the team they were first half. They didn't play exceptionally well tonight and it doesn't matter. Detroit is far too talented to not rock a team like this at this point in the season on coast mode. They're just making way too many fundamental mistakes. There's just no excuse or explanation for that besides stupidity and mental-laziness.
-
When he got rocked last year it threw him off-kilter. He was looking like he was going to break out and that was just a big setback and that happens when you get run and then injured. Throws you all off. He was working through it though this year and I think after mid-season, he just needed something to rally around. Playoffs would've done it but the extra ice-time got it going early which is a good thing for the Wings as we'd have lost a lot more games without him! Like, for real. He's been the clear-cut MVP of this team for the last 6 weeks or so. He's been a game-changer just like tonight.

Sure, great, we win. Great Presidents Trophy. Columbus should've won. What a s*** effort. Just embarrassing at this point in time against this team. I'll give them credit for finding a way to win, but it just never should've worked out like this at all.
-
I didn't think it'd happen this early and figured it'd be in the playoffs, but injuries have given him an early shot. I was calling it like mad at the deadline when people were crying about secondary scoring. I said just wait...Franzen will be there. He's just too hard of a worker. This was inevitable at some point. and wow. 3-2.
-
Weird. It almost looks like they're playing with a bit of urgency...
-
And once again, Johan Franzen 2 - CBJ 2 That looked like a lot of March and the good Lord knows I'm happy it seems to be continuing in April. We're gonna need it at this rate...
-
For reference sake, and I'm not trying to be a downer, I'm just saying, even though this is close, Columbus sucks and they shipped off some stars a month ago. Even coasting they should be able to win this game in their sleep. Slop hockey.
-
Nah, I was just referencing crazy ass Mickey Redmonds comments...
-
No. I don't think anyone will blame him. You have to generally expect your goalies to give up 1-2 every game on a given basis. I kinda always allow goalies somewhat of a sloppy one in there too before I really rag on them. But at the same time, he's clearly been outplayed on the other end...I just wish a few more times this season we could, you know, relate to that?

1975. Beautiful thing. Cocaine is one helluva drug...

ED.

True story.

Note to Wings Fans: Leclaire plays bigger than his team. Nice luxury, no?
-
That's a penalty for sure. Don't know whether to say it was stupid or just odd. Kinda a weird little thing.
-
I'll say that I don't even care about that fighting spirit right now. It's a good time to lay back and not get hurt. I'm fine with that. I'd like to see smarter play none the less. These mistakes aren't a result of coasting, just stupid hockey. That last goal was all Dom, but the rest of the time the team can't seem to remember what it means to cover anyone. You can coast a bit and still play smart hockey. That's what's a little unnerving right now.

I didn't say it was bad. The reality is he is lucky he didn't go high. I'm not even saying that's bad as a lot of goaltending is luck, I was just saying. Again, can we just let people be realistic without a comment for once? And I bet Dom wishes he didn't even have to play with a stick a little more now.
