P.K. Subban Donates $10 Million Dollars to Children's Hospita
gcom007 replied to ShanahanMan's topic in General
I've always liked and defended Subban. All the more now. Wish people would be a bit more open minded about him. I'd love to have him on our team. -
I agree with thoughts about Mrazek's next deal, but I think LeftWinger might be talking about Howard though if that's what you were responding too. As in, Howard would be a $5 million backup.

Curtis Glencross regrets taking hometown discount

I think you missed the point of his articles completely. -
I don't think it's ideal to move him soon, but if someone comes along and offers up something decent for him, I think Holland will listen and consider it. If Mrazek starts off humming along and Howard plays well in his starts, it would be ideal to move him sooner rather than later while we can get something decent for him. It's not going to get any easier to move a goalie with his contract as time goes on, and even in Holland's roughest years, he's proven again and again that he's quite adept at finding capable backups at great price points. I see no reason to believe he can't do it again. But I think the earliest this gets done is at the trade deadline. Next summer is most likely when it'll go down though.

I don't really care; after all, where's the money going to go at this point anyways? But I don't really get it. I don't know what he's trying to prove at this point. I almost feel bad for him more than anything. He must really be struggling with letting go. I can understand that, but man...at some point, it shouldn't be Holland who has to say "no." Dan should know by now.

Looking ahead to expansion draft ... If Vegas comes to the nhl etc
gcom007 replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I didn't even need to read a post further to know this one was coming. -
I thought that was all of our prospects until the collective decides they're the worst after 15 games or so?

Reckless? Screwed over? How many Cups have they won in the last 5 years again? Of course, people say it every year, and they get pinched now and again, drop some people, and so far, they've found a way back. I'm not saying one has to like it or the team, but so far, what they've been doing has been working for them. I'm not about to be the one writing them off again at this point. Again, they've got a great core and they keep retooling and coming back strong. Cups don't lie.

Holland's got a real good streak going this summer. Good to see. -
Holland doesn't expect to be busy this offseason
gcom007 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
We really were having a pretty good regular season for quite awhile though. The wheels did fall off down the stretch, but this team looked pretty good early on. We'll definitely be better with Green and Richards this year. -
I'm just happy to see Holland taking some chances, especially after Weiss blew up in his face. You can't be scared of free agency just because some deals don't work. You've got to build first and foremost from the draft for sure, more than ever in this era. But you can't accommodate for everything in the draft. You've got to plug holes via trade and free agency. There's no guarantee these moves will get us a Cup or work out at all, but you've got to keep trying. And these deals today are pretty good ones. But if these too blow up, I really will be convinced that Holland is 100% completely cursed.

We've never really had salary cap issues. We were real tight one year and that was about five years ago now. Again, it's not like Holland hasn't tried to make big signings. He's thrown a lot of money around, but he hasn't landed anyone. This idea that some people perpetuate that Holland intentionally hasn't pursued a big deal because of the cap is simply not factual at all. -
Similar to my thoughts as well, but the distaste for him must've been pretty wide in the organization for this to go down now. I'm sure there are things we don't know as well.
-
Wasn't this already floated around once or twice? And I thought I heard a rumor that they would've gone for it if Pavel was on board to supervise, but he didn't want to deal with him. There'd be little to lose on a cheap one year deal given we likely won't spend to the cap this season, but I'd be pretty surprised if it happened.

I mean, did anyone really, I mean really really, expect anything different? -
The bad grammar is what is ******* with me. I'm a grammar prick *******. The intentional misuse of grammar is making me dizzier than the many, many craft beers I've consumed. Yet my spelling and grammar is likely still very much up to snuff, if not impeccable by message board standards. Oh f***.

Holy s***. This thread just wrinkled my brain. I am way too drunk for this commentary on grammar s*** right now.

Dats has played through a lot of injuries that weren't well publicized. I know for a fact earlier in his career, he was a huge mess during the playoffs several times, as in, can't even walk without a huge limp in daily life. It irks me when people get on his case about his performance or injuries. He's definitely a lot tougher than many give him credit for.
-
No problem with this deal. He's underwhelming to say the least, but he's not nearly as bad as some make him out to be. Safe signing.

Another fact: our bottom six players in +/- last season were all Swedish. #CherryPickingFacts
