With the percentages to win #1 and seeing others bounce down to top 5 picks. No reason not to be trying to be somewhat competitive. Maybe showing an uptick entices a UFA or 2

I would say based on this https://www.mlive.com/redwings/2020/10/nhl-free-agency-how-to-watch-live-stream-1092020.html and within the article this... "The Detroit Red Wings have a lot of cap space, roughly $27 million, per capfriendly.com, but general manager Steve Yzerman said he plans to be “conservative. so no expectations of a major splash....

Divorce her get a locked in settlement as far as alimony etc! That way when you cash in as a UFA in a couple of years you can have your choice of women and send her videos of yourself making it rain....

Shall see what happens with all these kids maybe there will be one that is a breakout performer. IMHO Best 2 draft announcements Alex Terbek doing his Jeopardy thang and The Sharks signing the selection for the kids deaf mother

I am imagining the war rooms of the teams as they head into this weekend One whiteboard with expected UFA Another with their another's RFA Another with the draft list Then another one for possible trades, scenarios related to the cap etc. And the poor person designated to keep track of the cap is sitting in the corner shaking.....

Stevie is on here listening so keep the ideas coming .....LOL https://www.nhl.com/news/red-wings-acquire-marc-staal-from-rangers/c-319200544 in the link he said... "For the Red Wings, we are in a position, we do have cap space that we can use it. I hope to use it wisely, but one way we would like to try and use it is to acquire future assets should any teams be in a position where they really have to move contracts and don't have any other options. Nobody wants to give up picks or prospects, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do to make your team better, and we're trying to ... I don't want to say take advantage of that, but find teams that are in a position that need to do that. Again, we're trying to add picks or prospects and at the same time ice a team."

com'on draft day whoever is picked @ 4 will generate both positive and negative posts so we have that to look forward to. The Hungry Howie reference was pretty dang funny....so props

Thats a nap couch trap. Similar to a Venus fly trap you sit down on it. Next thing you are drooling and it's 3 hours later and the game is over.

For how much and how long? also in the article so my mid season dream of no Blash and having Gallant or Laviolette could be fading fast based on ... The Washington Capitals are still searching for new a head coach with experience and there's some big names out there. LeBrun: Well, [Capitals GM] Brian MacLellan kind of tipped his hand when he made the coaching change. He said he was looking for an experienced coach. Well, it should surprise no one that sources confirm he has interviewed Gerard Gallant, he has interviewed Peter Laviolette and, yes, he has interviewed Mike Babcock. And I think he wants to hire one of those three experienced coaches I think within the next couple weeks. Now, all three coaches have term left on their deals with their former teams. In particular, Mike Babcock has more than $17M US left to be paid out over the next three years from the Toronto Maple Leafs. How much would it take for the Caps to pay Mike Babcock for the Leafs to sign off on it if they go that route. We'll see if he goes Gallant, Laviolette or Babcock.

As I sit here drinking my baileys laced coffee watching the back and forth on the contract. I wonder why no one has said in year 2 if he is outperforming the contract......... Why couldn't/wouldn't we potentially flip him for picks to a team in need?
-
I have decided it shall be the Pens to make my misery of today's golf league and the draft on a crappy Monday
-
My money is on either Leafs or Pens because that will piss me off the most. Going to think on which of those really yanks my chain for my final prediction
-
Can we get him and stretch him an inch at least?

I agree the move of Mrazek was bad. I do think he benefited from the fresh start and different voices from the Carolina coaches. I also think playing behind a better team helps. If he messes up in Carolina there is a higher chance of the team bailing you out so that has to help him mentally. If this goalie is the absolute second coming of Price or Hasek or Roy then I would be okay with it ...I guess.

Also loved this from the Mule

I think this article sums up my view of the draft bs.. https://www.mlive.com/redwings/2020/06/nhl-should-alter-draft-lottery-odds-more-in-favor-of-worst-teams.html and the last sentence shows that change is needed in the process.... "The worst team has landed the No. 1 pick only twice in the past nine years."
-
Slow and steady and even keeled doth our GM go...... https://www.mlive.com/redwings/2020/06/steve-yzerman-red-wings-will-get-great-prospect-with-fourth-pick.html based on that article which has snippets of the presser he never thought we would get 1. So my guess the staff has been prepping for a 2-4 pick already and they are ready to say X name unless someone offers up a too good to be true trade. While disappointed in the drop much like last year I am putting my big boy pants on as someone said earlier and watch us overcome the walls that have been built in front of us...
-
basically heads or tails....which is stupid as hell. IMHO The bottom 6 should have the chance to get the top 6 picks shuffling down 2?spots max. Then in order as far as points for the next level. A playoff bubble team shouldn't be able to jump to top 6. System is grossly flawed

Dear Heavenly Father Please hear our plea. We have suffered Lord and shown through the vast desert of losses we have shown our love for our team. But Lord we are pleading that you deliver us the #1 pick this year. You know the NHL has conspired against your Winged Wheel children by only giving us 18.5% of a potential game changing player. We need you almighty one to put us in the 1st spot. If you will deliver us this pick we will not complain about the coaching or goaltending till the All-Star break In thou's name ...amen

Can we take a guess on who?...
