I really like the idea of play to win the pick makes it like playoffs for losers. Games remain meaningful the WHOLE season vs tuning out in March hoping for losses. Not sure why the owners would be against it. As an owner if my team is out of the playoffs but has a chance for the 1st pick maybe seats get filled. We went to the last game debacle and in the lower bowl we were surrounded by empty seats. If I was an owner I want every seat filled as 1 or 3 beers per seat or someone buying some food is more revenue for me. Not to mention our attitude once Buffalo went up was sadly YAAY we have more % points. I would have preferred to be pissed off that we lost and missed 1st pick for instance. If I am Ottawa I would be a wee bit happier as i wouldn't be handing the Avs the potential first pick. Now that situation would cause a reverse tank in the play for the pick. I fully expect Kenny to pull this off tonight right after we get the 1st pick. If not he needs to be GONE cause any half brained GM could do that trade!!!

It will get changed right when we become a bubble team and get eliminated the next to last game of the year...LOL Putting on my tinfoil Bettman is out to get us hat.

As mentioned by CRL in another thread Ottrado has clinched the 1st lottery percentage chance. Avs get no less than #4 Looking at today's standings with most teams @ 80 games played... and for grins ran things in the lose for higher percentage of draft choice spreadsheet. As things sit before any more games are played. Not to mention our ROW is 3rd highest so any ties in points with anyone other than Ducks/Oilers we move down in the draft. Now if everyone wins to see max points possible.....which doesn't affect our position at all @ 5 (yeah I know KRS the likelyhood of bottom teams winning is a mixed bag) Then same numbers and everyone loses except Ottawa(locked) and we continue our streak...which is the worst possible scenario. We get between 8th and 11th pick. So if we dump the last 2 games and others win.... So its boiling down to NJ, Buffalo(4pt game) and us for third spot in a big way. So we can get between the 3rd and 11th pick at this time...LOL I personally believe we are moving up in the draft but that's just my opinion/hope/wish/prayer/offering.... and LA congrats on what is looking like second best odds with your lineup...

and that trade basically created the Avs core as they got Hextall, Duchesne, Ricci, Forsberg 1st rounder in 93(Thibault), and a pick in 94(traded) Thibault was traded for Roy Hextall for Deadmarsh Boom 96 was cup time in Denver and we all know where the Flyers ended up in 97...!! If we got the 1st and were to capitalize like this I would be okay with a trade. That trade made a core for quite a few years with that silver cup thingy being passed around the ice twice in 5 years

Well I prefer we lose both games against Pittsburgh and then an absolute awesome game against Buffalo. Why you ask? Well I paid a LOT of money(rental car ,hotel, tickets) to have the privilege of sitting in the LCA and I want to see my team win while my fat butt drinks beer and chows on food.
