My googlefu might be off today ...not enough coffee yet. But googling Jack Hughes injury history, is Jack Hughes Injury plagued, Jack Hughes Injury etc. Only thing popping up is the injury that kept him out 3 games @ World Juniors which was a shoulder issue I believe.

Steve Yzerman to step down as GM for TBL. Will serve in "Advisory Role".

I think we are a split personality team currently IMHO 1st and 2nd lines on most nights are puck possession whereas the 3rd and 4th are dump and chase. I agree with with KRS that will start to change over time as we replace parts in the bottom 6. I would love to see in the future 4 lines able to roll with equal distribution of ability to score and defend. -

Showcasing Gus is the goal..... thus getting a better draft pick for him.... thus improving us.... Kenny and Blash sooo tricky!! I do question why Gus isn't on the top line to be showcased -

Agree the tank is strong with Ottawa and to think that will result in them not even getting the pick. Although LA is doing a massive job of tankage having lost 5 in a row! I am still hoping for a "strong" showing from us after the deadline especially if Jimmy gets traded. Hopefully Bernier leads us to the promised land of high draft picks. If we can get into the 2nd spot worse case we pick 5th so I am hanging my hat on that. I prefer to increase my odds as much as possible so prefer 2nd vs 3rd. Crap part is NJ plays Sens tomorrow so we need that to go to OT min. Head to heads like that are going to be rough coming down the stretch. -

His reaction time wasn't super impressive...he didn't react until it hit the camera. -
Off Mlive today this posturing or actual belief? https://www.mlive.com/redwings/2019/02/red-wings-weighing-whether-to-sign-or-trade-as-deadline-looms.html The Red Wings also don’t seem inclined to want to stockpile more draft picks. Holland pointed out the team has had 31 picks from 2017-2019 and has a number of young players already on the roster, in Grand Rapids or elsewhere in the system. “I think we’ve got a lot of future assets,” he said. That’s why he’d prefer to keep some established NHL players."

Blue Jackets gotta be answering a lot of calls. Or perhaps people are saying screw it and make a run at Bob and Panarin on July 1 and not give up a lot of assets for a rental. and Jensen is trending up if I understand the little green arrow properly interesting times the next 7 days.

You all noticed yesterday that a vet was sat in favor of a rookie... From here....https://www.mlive.com/redwings/2019/02/red-wings-anthony-mantha-answered-bell-in-fight-excelled-in-loss.html important points bolded well at least in my opinion. "Ericsson scratched Jonathan Ericsson was a healthy scratch to make room for Filip Hronek, up for his third stint with the Red Wings. Hronek logged 14:18 (no points, one shot, minus-1) and apparently will remain in the lineup “I thought he was good tonight,” Blashill said. “I like Fil. We sent Fil down earlier in the year, he didn’t have a great camp, needed to get better at things. I think he’s gotten better. We sent him down again, my message to him was be the best player on the ice in the American League, stand out, look like you should be in the NHL, and I think he did that to a large degree after he stopped yelling at refs. “He’s strong, he seals, he creates stalls in the D-zone, he can create offense.” Blashill wasn’t happy with his defense in Saturday’s game and explained why Ericsson was the odd-man out. “He was, for me, the worst of the six (defensemen) last night,” Blashill said. “He struggled. I think he knew that."" Hello buyout ...lol

Put a real winning team on the ice then the fans will come. No one wants to drive downtown and watch a meh or worse team. Well unless you are a lions fan. -
Don't give up lil buckaroo.... If you run the bottom 8 and calculate where they are all currently and based on a win for their games in hand the picture looks brighter for us. 3 - way tie for second place overall loser!! Plus if we lose Howard and Gus to trades we could see our chances increase ! I am going all in on the tank and will give up games like yesterday where we fight yet lose. The team isn't mailing it in totally and young guns are learning. So I am oddly okay with the current state of the team. But hey I lived through the Dead Wings era and this isn't even close to that pain so maybe that helps me cope.

and people say Holland only works 3 days a week ....oooooor is this a move by StevieY?

Everyone above us has a game in hand AND is currently from 1 to 4 points ahead of us so even if they lose we are behind them!! Ottawa has a game in hand and if they win it goes to ROW and we are 31!! We have a really good shot at getting another GREAT piece for the rebuild. I am firing up my enthusiasm for the stretch run after the trade deadline. -
Decided to see how we were doing and built a spreadsheet...yeah early morning conf calls are a drag. So I go by who ever has played the most games of the bottom 8. Then pull everyone up to that and those games in hand are calculated as wins. Then I sorted by points then ROW. Not super science and I know the games in hand aren't always going to be a win. Just figured I would put this out there and have a little fun with as we count down the season. But the good news if there can be good news in this. Is that IF everyone loses their games in hand we are still 31st with the lowest ROW. So those games in October meant a lot ...in the old days it meant points now it's about good draft picks.

I have seen this prospect out of the KHL looks pretty good passing and has unreal skills with the puck. His defense is absurd pick pockets people all the time. His name escapes oh wait it's something like Datsyuk? Issue is he is a bit older and has a family in Russia otherwise an ideal prospect. I loved Dats when he was here but that ship has sailed. I look at it as we lost Dats gained Cholo who is a piece of us moving forward. He left due to family needs heck even StevieY has moved back due to family and he was a 3 hour flight from MI. What if things flare back up for Dats he can't just jump on a plane to fix it on an off day. Guessing like others this is an agent ploy.

aah the articles about the pending trade deadline http://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/25769640/nhl-trade-deadline-preview-possible-moves-watch-all-31-teams this cracked me up... "Gustav Nyquist is chief among them. The winger has been the second-best forward on the team this season, not coincidentally in a contract year. He has a no-trade clause -- it's Ken Holland, so of course he does -- that could gum up the works for a trade, but there would be a market for him." and .. "It wouldn't be an NHL trade deadline if Thomas Vanek wasn't at least mentioned. The 35-year-old winger, who has played for five teams since 2016, is a free agent this summer. He also has a no-trade clause -- again, it's Ken Holland, so of course he does." which one of you wrote this article!!! -

oops my edit from last night's win didn't save. Thanks Toby for the catch with everyone winning games in hand we have the best odds dependent on how to sort out the tie with Sh*tago. with no one winning their games in hand We lose a lot of potential % of getting number 1. I think I am becoming a fan of 7 other teams to win a lot in the next couple of months!!! -
same here and also for poop cannon trying to figure out how to work those into my next staff meeting.... Well we just ate a poop sandwich on that deal....LOL Well sheet might as well shoot off the poop cannon on that idea!! Those were my first 2 thoughts....

Chicago is 2 points behind us and same number of games played. Seems captain serious is doing well leading his team in tank mode Worst case now is we pick 5th so who would the panel choose?
