I honestly don't understand the fixation with Stephen Weiss, as the pundits are now saying he's the most likely to be signed by Holland at this point. Replacing one soft, small center in Filppula with another soft, small, center for almost the same price...not exactly a game changing move. -

I'll say right now that the idea of buying out Tootoo is completely unrealistic. Aside from the minimal cap impact, even if he doesn't play in the playoffs, there's a reason why Holland signed him to a 3 year deal. This team needs grit just to survive the regular season, and they're going into a new conference with some heavy hitters. Sammuelsson is the most realistic candidate, especially considering his string of non-critical injuries that still managed to keep him out the lineup.

Apparently he's going to test the waters, not returning to the Islanders. 50-pt per season offensive defenseman, but 35 years old. What do you guys think? I wonder if Tootoo was hanging out with White when he did whatever it was that pissed Babcock off...I feel like Tootoo is continually underestimated and underutilized, especially in a series against a bunch of scum like Anaheim. -

That's a shame, but I think after a summer of pro-level conditioning he's going to come back stronger and more prepared next season. I'm sure he's incredibly disappointed, but he's got a bright future ahead. -

This is true, but at the same time Brunner and Nyquist combined for 3 shots on 15+ min of ice time each, so they're not exactly dominating out there either. I'd rather have a more physical player in the lineup, but hey, Babcock runs the show. -

I'm glad Bert is playing, but Tootoo wasn't the one I wanted him to replace. Brunner and Nyquist combined for 3 shots and 2 hits in 15+ min apiece, take one of them out. -
Perry is one of the biggest scumbags in the league, I despise him. That said, this looked like incidental contact to me, I'm sure he'll give us a bigger reason to get agitated in the coming games.

I think it's time to get Bert back in the lineup. I give Nyquist a lot of credit for his work ethic, he's definitely trying out there, but he got out-muscled a few times and he's not finishing. Brunner could also potentially sit. -
Just saw on mlive, Bertuzzi has been cleared to play, but won't dress for tonight's game...Babcock doesn't want any line changes. The loyalty to Cleary baffles me sometimes.

Bertuzzi has a knack for coming in cold and scoring, there's no reason not to play him.

I guess this is kind of a needless rant post, but is this guy for real? I saw today that he didn't practice again because he has a "sore pectoral muscle." Have some pride man...there are guys out there who play with broken bones, I mean cleary basically skates on one leg. Step it up and help the team or good riddance.

The more I read about this guy, the more I dream about the day he might actually play for the WIngs. A big, scary defensemen, love the thought.

I'd be happy to give him the benefit of the doubt for the groin, the finger, the shoulder, the pec muscle...but I'm sorry man, you only get so many passes. He's contributed nothing this season except for a drain on the payroll. I agree with the other posters in this thread though, if Babock wanted him to play, I imagine he'd suck it up. This ongoing rash of minor injuries tells me management doesn't care about getting him back into the lineup.

Yea I'm not sure what's up with this...Helm hasn't been practicing, he's not travelling with the team, and there's what, a month until the playoffs? If I were a betting man, I'd guess Helm will not play at all this season.
