Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild
haroldsnepsts replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Agreed. They don't need to physically take him back to Detroit. Especially right before the 4th of July. Hmm, the plot thickens...- 487 replies

Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running
haroldsnepsts replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
I guess it's possible, but honestly it goes against how Parise has conducted himself as a player for most of his career. Now with twitter and social media, I think the intensity and frequency of the speculation is higher than it's ever been before. -
Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running
haroldsnepsts replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
It's now the "Like This" button. And if I were any good at photoshop I'd be putting Chelios's head on Lloyd Dobler's body right now. -
The league is better off without Torres, especially if they're trying to protect players heads. He's made a career of questionably late hits that target the head.

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild
haroldsnepsts replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
At the risk of stating the obvious, the Wings need to make the all out push for Suter. If they don't land Parise, it's not gonna kill the team. They've still got a lot of offensive talent. But without a big name blueliner, our defense is looking scary. And not in a good way.- 487 replies

Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running
haroldsnepsts replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
That turned out just to be a rumor. He couldn't decide whether to go number 1 or number 2. -
signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
haroldsnepsts replied to Tim.D's topic in General
Let's get back to discussing the signing, not other members here and their level of Wings loyalty please. -
Opinions if Wings have to settle for 'Plan B': Semin and Carle
haroldsnepsts replied to a topic in General
I fear that I brought this thread into existence with my baseless prediction in another thread that Holland gets Semin and Carle instead of Parise and Suter.- 93 replies

Still no decision from Suter. Speculation abounds.

That's why at times like this you can pretty much only listen to McKenzie and Dreger. Everyone else tries to break the story because they dont' have to worry about being wrong most of the time. -
Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running
haroldsnepsts replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
Semin in particular seems more Holland's style rather than land the biggest (and most expensive) fish out there. A talented player who's got somewhat of a bad rep and can live up to their potential here. Plus the lure of playing with Datsyuk. Hoping that with Detroit he'd shake the questionable work ethic tag. -
signed Red Wings Sign Mikael Samuelsson to 2-yr, $6m deal (w/full NTC)
haroldsnepsts replied to Matt's topic in General
You know that's right where he's going, right? The Wings lost Hudler and Lids. Even if they get Suter, who else is gonna be out there? -
Darcy Hordichuk Re-signs With Edmonton
haroldsnepsts replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
It's funny how that works, isn't it? They're a talented young team, an underdog given that market, and I even kinda like their jerseys. -
Darcy Hordichuk Re-signs With Edmonton
haroldsnepsts replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Agreed. Honestly the series Oil Change made me kinda like the Oilers. they've got a ton of young talent up there. And Darcy Hordichuk is one of my favorite NHL names. I don't know why, but he seemed destined to be an enforcer just from that name. -
Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running
haroldsnepsts replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
Agreed. He's an Eklund wanna be. With bad grammar. I'm going to make the completely baseless prediction that the Wings don't get Parise and Suter, but sign Semin and Carle instead. -
Wasn't Roy the one who was in that photo with Chelios? Where Cheli is ripped and Roy looks more out of shape than most hockey fans, let alone pro athletes. Maybe if he'd hit the gym once in a while, his stock wouldn't have dropped so much.

I have no idea what you're talking about... Like I said, the site is loading weird for me today, so once I screwed with the thread title it's been hard to correct. I can't tell if it's really updated. I shouldn't have touched it to begin with. Any other mods with the site loading properly, feel free to change. backing away slowly... -

To be clear, that's just two Wings fans' twitter account and not the official Wings twitter feed. -

haroldsnepsts replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
With the money he's about to make, couldn't he have flown them there with him to discuss?? You're killing me Smalls! another day of waiting. -
Hudler would only be 32 then. He'd have to let him age a few more years before bringing him back. Flames really needed some goals, I guess this is good for them?
-
I agree, but it comes with two big ifs. IF Samuelsson can stay healthy and IF he can match his production from three seasons ago. It's the last time in his career that he put up numbers similar to what Hudler did last season (he was close 6 years ago). So we got him cheaper but my hunch is the Wings probably lost some goalscoring in swapping Sammy for Huds. I hope he proves me wrong though. And while he's not exactly gritty, but he's more of a pain in the ass to play against than Hudler was. Let's hope he stays healthy.
-
Not surprising he would end up somewhere other than Detroit, after the Sammy signing.

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
haroldsnepsts replied to Tim.D's topic in General
He definitely does very well in fights for his size. Though sometimes that's because he drops the gloves and starts swinging before the other guy even knows he's in a fight. Tootoo is by far one of my least favorite players in the league. I wanted to Detroit to sign a player similar to him, just not him. -
I'm not part of the parade that have been saying trade Flip, but while Ryan has hit 71 points that is higher than Flip's ever managed. And he's been a 30 goal scorer 4 times now, every season he's been playing except his first when he only played 23 games. I think Flip probably brings a lot more two way play, but his career high is 23 goals and 66 points, which is well above his averages before that. I guess it depends on if you think that Flip has turned the corner, or if that was pretty much his peak.

I'm pretty sure it does not. And capgeek doesn't have one listed. They're usually pretty good about that. They may just have meant because of the length of the contract Mule would be hard to move?
