how many penalties has Salvador taken this series??

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

I know. they showed back to back highlights as if the two hits were even close to the same. I don't know if they're just trying to manufacture drama, they're really rooting for the Devils, or they're idiots.

Brad Stuart's rights traded to San Jose

Did Stuart really even ever go public with it? I'm trying to remember how the info came out. I thought it just started turning up in articles about the Wings how he had this situation back in california.

oh, and I don't like Parise after his taunt on the first goal. It makes me want the Kings to win even more so he can choke on it.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

I think they were at the time I posted it, but it's been much more back and forth since then. Kings have hit three or four posts tonight and Jersey has the go ahead goal off a bounce off Voynov. Jersey's defense is good and Kings aren't getting any bounces.

Kings are dominating overall, but a bad call and a terrible play by Quick and they're down by one. frustrating.

We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against

And how does every thread about getting tougher turn into an enforcer debate? Getting tougher does not equal getting a guy who hops over the boards, fights, sits in the box for 5 minutes, then goes back to the bench. A lot of valid suggestions get clouded because the conversation inevitably veers towards fighting.

We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against

Clifford missed much of the playoffs after getting hit from behind in game 1 against Vancouver and got another concussion. And though he will fight, I wouldn't call him a goon or enforcer really. He's not sent out there just to go with someone. He's a crasher and banger and can score the occasional goal. Honestly fighting may be his downfall. The kid has already been concussed several times in his young career. And he fights wide open, throwing haymakers but leaving himself vulnerable to being caught with one too. He's 21 years old with two seasons under his belt. Right now he's just not that solid defensively on an extremely sound defensive team. That more than anything is why he's not in the lineup right now. But assuming he doesn't get his brains scrambled from a hit or fight, he could develop into a good third and fourth line guy. The thing is, the Kings have a very good third and fourth line. And while size isn't everything, I think Detroit is relatively undersized so it would be nice to add some of it to the lineup. And more than that, they need the bottom couple lines to have a purpose and identity out there. This season it was often just a patchwork of leftover players who don't fit together very well.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

Agreed. A little too nervous in their own building or something. Hopefully they close it out on the road. I don't really dislike the Devils, but Olczyk and McGuire having such a boner for them makes me want them to lose even more.

olczyk can harp on the weak boarding call but why aren't they talking about Elias bumping into quick seconds before the Devils goal? Especially since Penner got a goalie interference call last game for basically skating near Brodeur.

hockey karma for the no goalie interference call on Elias's goal.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

what?? So when the mentally fragile Canucks were having an epic meltdown in Boston last year, those games got higher ratings because the hockey was better? Or when the Sharks and Canucks were having a dive off in the conference finals, that was better hockey? Los Angeles is not exactly a massive market for hockey and gets little national attention because of the games being on so late. The east coast bias is real. Even among Wings fans, who are pretty knowledgeable andwatch a lot of Western Conference hockey, how many have actually seen the Kings play before this playoff run? How many had seen how good Kopitar and Quick are or could even name more than 3 or 4 Kings players? I'm sure the quality of hockey factors in some small way, but it has almost everything to do with the popularity of the teams involved. Either way, I could care less about ratings. Here's hoping the the Kings finish it tonight!

    Derek Boogaard found dead

I'm not expecting them to police every aspect of a players life, nor am I saying it's their fault and not Boogaard's, but they also have a responsibility to do no harm. If they're writing that many prescriptions when they don't even really see him as a patient, they're basically just drug suppliers not doctors.

People are finally getting to see how good Quick has been playing this season. Now he's just actually getting some goal support.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

It's an especially stupid thing to say since Poni was on the Kings just last season and probably would be least likely to want to run Quick.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

Bad news for the Devils if the Kings are actually scoring power play goals. That was about the only weak spot in their game.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

It's amazing considering the first two games Quick literally had guys laying on him while he was making saves. Brown to Kopitar what a pass and shot. Parise's the one who quit on the play and allowed Kopitar to get open.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

Holy soft call. Did Penner fart when he skated in front of Brodeur or something? Because I'm not seeing the interference. Gotta love O'Halloran. It shows the sad state of NHL officiating when he makes the Cup finals.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

I know it's the Cup finals, but the level of interference is nuts. Picks being set all over the place, pinning guys against the boards well after the puck has gone. One hand off the stick grabbing guys in puck battles. I know the GM's are talking about potential rule changes regarding shot blocking to open up the game. But it's not the shot blocking. Just call the interference closer to how it was in the regular season. A defensive zone faceoff for either team is basically a ruby scrum.

    Derek Boogaard found dead

Just throwing in a quote from the article: He had so access to so many doctors that it certainly would be difficult to keep track of all the meds he was on. Still, all these doctors should recognize a drug-seeking patient when they see one. RIP Boogaard

Vokoun moved to Pittsburgh for a 7th Round pick.

They just traded away his rights for the pick. I get that it was to a rival, but he was set to be a UFA July 1 and I'm guessing the Caps knew he wasn't staying. Maybe they figured better to get something out of it before he walks.

Vokoun moved to Pittsburgh for a 7th Round pick.

Not necessarily. With as inconsistent as Fleury plays, it could be a 1a 1b situation. At the very least this should put the heat on him to keep his level of game up. It's not exactly a vote of confidence in Fleury from the Pens organization. I'm sure Vokoun is there to try and win the starting job, not be a backup.

    Tim Thomas.

To make it even nuttier, according to ESPN: http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/bruins/post/_/id/9939/thomas-will-focus-on-friends-family-faith Then he made his announcement to take a year off on his FB page the next day.

Off -Season Game Plan:Detroit Red Wings

Detroit. And they don't have to give up picks. Obviously they'll be trying to make some big offseason moves, but right now without Q the defensive corps is Kronwall, White, Ericsson, Smith, and Kindl. That's pretty scary.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

I never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait to see games back in LA so there'll be some decent ice. The Prudential center is a friggin dump, at least in terms of the actual rink. Weird bounces off the boards and awful ice.
