2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades
haroldsnepsts replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
I disagree (unless you're being sarcastic?) Replace Ken Holland's name with Dan Cleary and tell me if that line of reasoning still works. Cleary works harder than almost anyone on the ice, but that doesn't matter. He simply doesn't produce the results necessary to remain competitive at the NHL level. Holland has an incredibly difficult job. So do the other 29 GM's in the league. It's not always going to work out, but the results are still what matter. Not how hard he tried. There were absolutely things that could've been done in the last 5 years. Just because Holland didn't make them doesn't mean they didn't exist. -

Holland tried. Lidstrom's on the phone with Yzerman in Tampa. -

Don't forget, we've still got Kindl too! -
Ansar Khan @AnsarKhanMLive 2m Wings have been told Niskanen going elsewhere.

I'm guessing that was a fake account. Unless I'm overlooking it, I don't see anything like that in his twitter feed. -
Jason Spezza traded to Stars for 3 prospects, 2nd-rd pick

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 27m So in a league where it's seemingly impossible to acquire top-end centers, Jim Nill picks up Tyler Seguin and Jason Spezza within 12 months -
6 ft 3 in. and 215 lbs., so basically the same size as Kindl, which is hilarious given how they each played the game (though admittedly Snepsts was huge for that era).

Enough with the Franzen talk. Do not post about Franzen (or Cleary for that matter) if it is not relevant to the topic at hand. People who continue to derail threads with these types of posts will be suspended.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 5m NSH not qualifying Michael Del Zotto. Throw another log on the UFA fire. -
Probably because he's hoping for a raise and a NTC.
-
The Canucks? I strongly disagree.
-
Thats what I was afraid of. An aging vet who's looking for a good payday on a short-term deal, this does unfortunately feel like the kind of thing Holland prefers. I don't know a ton about him but would rather have Gilbert than Boyle.
-
That's what I was thinking. If it's between Boyle and Gilbert, I'm probably more interested in Gilbert. Niskanen scares me a little because he's going to require such a huge commitment in term and salary.
-
Anyone know anything about Tom Gilbert? He's older and not some offensive superstud, but is a RH D-man with good size and sounds like he was a solid player in Florida.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

It's sounding like the most important goal was cap space before the free agent market opened. So Yzerman trades Purcell (who was a buyout target for Tampa) rather than buying him out because he's older and would be a 2/3 buyout. Now he has Gagner, who I guess they weren't terribly interested in. Then instead of buying out Gagner (which would only be 1/3 buyout because of his young age), Yzerman trades him while retaining salary equivalent to a buyout, but gets a 6th rounder for his troubles. I'm not super familiar with Tampa but aren't they neck deep in good young forwards? So they don't have much of a need for Gagner and Yzerman is trying to clear space immediately. -
That is what you heard from your unnamed source that the price is.
-
It's not just you. It's been running rampant lately. If someone sees a thread like this with no link in the OP but it's pretty clearly from a good source, help a brother out and paste the link in your post.
-
Here's the actual source and link. This is a busy time of year in terms of trades/signings/buyouts and there's a lot of rumor and speculation that goes with that. A proper source and link separates fact from fiction. Threads without that information will be locked. It takes two seconds to copy and paste a link. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie · 1h BUF has initiated compliance buyout procedures on Christian Ehrhoff. Not official just yet but BUF has begun the process.
-
Then please clearly state in your posts that the information is a rumor instead of as if it's fact.
-
Sources for any of this?
-
I was going to say "especially diving" but given what goes on in the game these days, Floppa's behavior doesn't seem all that bad.
-
If they're going by career points previous to the Preds, wouldn't Forsberg be at the top of that list?

NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**
haroldsnepsts replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
Discuss the topic please and not each other. Talking about other people whining or any other personal attack will result in suspension. And it would be really lame to get suspended in the offseason. -
Agreed. Kesler would apparently only waive his NTC for the Ducks or Hawks. It's hard to get much of a bidding war going that way.
-
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 2m VAN trades 3rd round pick acquired in Kesler deal to NYR for Derek Dorsett. So add Dorsett to VAN's return on Kesler. Expand
