Injured Former Wings coach/GM Bryan Murray has stage 4 cancer
pondrocket replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Heartbreaking! Bryan Murray was the right guy at the right time to get things going in Detroit, again. He gave allot and allong with Jimmy D made the turn that Wings fans enjoyed for over two decades. Cheers to Bryan! He is a good hockey man! -
Great player! Wpould love to have him as a Wing, but 9,000,000.00 is a huge percentager of the entire teams payroll. It will be even more difficult to surround him with a team.
-
Honestly I have become unaware of what happened to Derek. I was familiar with him in his younger years. Back in the day he was a bigger, respectable defensemen with som offensive upside. At one point he was a pretty desirable guy, even moreso than Niskinin is now. Injury? bad teams? loose his drive? I appreciate any viewpoint.

Signed Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

I would like to keep Babs but the Wings have been in decline since the teams Scotty contributed to began breaking apart. Good luck in Toronto (his dream job) Holland. -

What else do we need to know? This is how Olympia Entertainment and Little Cesar's view their customers. Who makes a good pizza? I'm done with the 5 dollar crap. -

So........ How much will Holland give Danny boy??? -
The kids. They might as well trade Dats and get something for him. Give him another chance at winning. Kenny could always go after Phaneuf or Byfugelyn, but I doubt he is capable of doing anything like that. We would have seen some spark of capability when it comes to trades within the last 5 years. We have not.
-
Agreed, he gave up on a cup, but will have some fun and be paiid well.
-
Here are the facts. For FIVE years Holland has failed to build our back end. Without a doubt he has failed to get it done.

Wings notified that Niskanen going elsewhere. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/07/live_updates_nhl_free_agency_2.html

"We like our team, Ehrhoff at 4 million for a 1 year contract is a little pricey and we felt that in signing kyle Quincy at 4.2 on a 1 year contract is an upgrade over Kyle Quincy of last year. He is a year older and now has to bring the doughnuts on Thursdays. We are going to kick some tires and see if we can't find someone else to overpay to not be productive. I love July first. I can bone the entire Red Wings fan base 5 years in a row. I can only do 4 or 5 of you in a day at the rest stop on 75. This should solidify my signal to Brendan Shanahan that I really do want out of Detroit so I can work for my beloved Maple Leafs"
-
Could be but Pitsburg is not the picture of stability right now, have goalie issues, and some contracts that are strangling them. Holland couldn't sell Detroit, a team with great young tallent, some great established tallent, and a couple D men away from being an incredible team. 4 million, 1 year. We couldn't have done 4.5 or even 5 for 1 year?
-
So, 1 year 4 million. I don't want to hear anyone say that Kenny had his hands tied and couldn't improve the D, without hurting the team. 1 year, 4 million. If he fails to hit his target it will show that his judgement with regards to free agency will have failed 5 years in a row.
-
If Holland does sign Quincy (I don't doubt that he could) I think every true Wings fan owes it to Mr. and Mrs. I to storm the Joe and leave with Holland's head on a stick.
-
Oh well, another year the D doesn't get fixed. Imagine if Danny didn't come here? (Thanx Jimmy Nill!!!!!)
-
Doubt it. Kenny is not a trader.
-
Get a top four D man. I don't care if they make the playoffs. I want them to improve & the D is in bad shape. Statistically Holland does not seem to be capable of trade strategy. He has a solid enough draft mechanism but not so much a trader and our D needs 1 or 2 top 4 D. Relying on the draft for this is unrealistic.
-
Can't remember the last time we were this pathetic
pondrocket replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
We have 2@ top four D men. That's it. That means EVERYBODY has to ignore their game to be COMPLETELY defensive in the choices they make. No passing, no grit, boring! -
3 years???? Cleary must have pix of Babs & Kenny blowin donkeys; or Pauley Shore. Yep, Stevie is still early in his development as a GM. Not ready for prime time yet. I believe he will get there but not for years.
-
What is the agents name? Just curious. Any client Gandler handles is less interesting to me.
-
Very happy of the new additions, Dissapointed in both Cleary (don't want him back) & Brunner (did want him back). Maybe Kenny takes that salary & gets one guy on the tough side with some offence, Is there another 4 to 4.5 mil guy left that fits tat?

signed Wings sign Alfredsson to 1-year, $3.5m deal (+$2m bonuses)
pondrocket replied to ogreslayer's topic in General
Good one Kenny! Dig it!!!!!!!!! -
Jimmy Nil will probably grab him. Nil won't try for Danny though. 3 x 3 = a desperate GM.
-
No way is Brunner going to take 2.5, great if he did. Cleary should take a one year 1.8 or a two year 3.5, or he should join Calgary, or wherever else he can gain a contract.
