If Holland gives Cleary 3 mil x 3 years........ it wouldn't surprise me at all. I think Holland should wear a helmet.

Report: Red Wings out on Lecavalier - signs with Philly 5@4.5 per

I think the 5 mil is fine, but if he is really seeking more than 2 years I would be glad Kenny didn't action it. I am skeptical about Holland though. Three years is a long time to not bring in the top 3 D or a compliment for the top 6. We will see. HA!!!!!!! I am terrified that this will be his statement or one equally disconnected from the teams needs. "Helmer is going to bo our addition this year". -
Dreger: Filppula looking for $5.5m/season over at least 7 years

This doesn't sound like the Fil I have watched. He stays away from the rough stuff. He's a 3 or 3.5 a year guy or a 3rd line center on a team that has a greater likelihood to go deep into the playoffs. -

Val is a every day third liner and an occasional 2nd liner. Not worth what is being reportedly seeking. -
Good read & good review. Not much of a plan.

ECF - (4) Boston Bruins vs. (1) Pittsburgh Penguins

I really enjoyed the series. Fast, physical & the Pens lost. -
Not to disparage my fellow Howel friend but Kenny admitted that he really felt Nick would have played one more year at lease.
-
Holland didn't believe Nick was going to retire when he did either.

The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings

So,... We have that going for us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0iF9HA7SJs -
After Holland I blame Jimmy D & ultimately Mr. I (who I respect and appreciate). The people evaluating Holland are the ultimate stewards of the brand & the acceptance of the GM's philosophies.

Howard had a Sh** night. But he is a good goalie & he has been there almost EVERY game he has played this year. He absolutely contributed to this loss, but we are on the edge of the post season for soooooooo many reasons that have nothing to do with him. We have way too many 4 liners, throughout this line up; And that... is the GM's responsibility to address. as it was last year & the year before.
-
Hey, Look at the bright side. At least we don't have 7 million tied up in E & Quincy!
-
Kenny is enjoying the last year of the good old boy network, earned through two decades of more good choices than bad and a few exceptionally great choices. Soon it will end & they will begin to autopsy the decline of a great team. They will point out bad breaks & bad deals. Wventually the team will be above average again & that GM will begin to reap the rewards associated with success; until success leaves. It's the same in every city & every & most every industry.

Cheers for Vladdy! Always one of my favorites!!!

Hey, finally something we agree on. You are a cool-aid drinking loon!
-
Nobody likes to loose & why would he want to stay & play on a team that is rebuilding? Why should he think Holland can do what he has failed to do for the last four years? Rebuilding will be a process & the players the Wings could get for him will definitely expedite that rebuild.

Thanx Puck Daddy! You nailed it! Detroit Red Wings: F Kent Huskins for a conditional seventh-rounder was all GM Ken Holland did at the deadline. They whiffed on Jay Bouwmeester and couldn’t entice Dallas to deal Jagr to them. As Holland said: "We made offers. At the end of the day, maybe somebody likes somebody else's players better." In the end, the Wings are still a win-now team, given their roster, but couldn’t add anything to the mix. But hey, at least it wasn't a first-rounder for Kyle Quincey again. I am glad we didn't over pay for players like Jay Bo, Marion,,,, or Jager. I am just thankful Kenny couldn't make a deal to bring Lilja back for a first rounder. Whrer are Jimmy D & Mr. Illitch?
-
It seems like Holland retired 4 years ago. Kenny will leave when he has a shot at managing Toronto. Let's hope that is sooner than later. Nobody that is ever great at anything is great forever (except Scotty). Thank you Kenny for the great years & memories. Those days are over, congrats! Now GTFO,

Mike is completely aware. Critique the teams performance, vent about your dissipointment it's all well and good. We all appreciate th Wings and or hockey in general but to be so personally insulting about someone that has contributed to Hockey and fans of Detroit hockey is irresponsible. It's too bad. Welcome to the club

If becoming less significant, selling less merch (globally), drawing less in other arenas (compared to last 10 years), less attractive to free agents and being less competative is the definition of doing fine you have no concept of determining any business's health. Cheers to you & to having enough time (clearly not being intimate with any business) to do another 10,000.00 posts.
-
Exactly, if I allowed my teritory to to slip each year & I couldn't demonstrate that I was looking at my businesess in new ways & had a strategy to improve it & didn't execute any meaningful changes within three years. I would be gone. It is a business.
-
TRADE HOLLAND! I don't care if we miss the playoffs this year, I don't care that he hasn't (& wont) make a big free agent splash. I care that he has not fundimentaly changed this team for the better. For three years. Love the Tooto, Brunner & maybe Danny D. Bit the Quincy deal, The E deal, We are a team of good third or fourth liners with the exception of 5 or 6 players. Maybe 5 or 6. He is a hack. Drives me crazy that JimmyD & Mr. I (who I am thankful for) don't seem to be reacting to Holland's inaction. Maybe if enough people stopped buying Little Ceasars Pizza for a month they would notice.
-
Kenny needs to be preparing for the next 20 year run not the 2013 playoffs. I would be content if he began aadjusting the team to be competative for the long run. This year is...... this year.
-
Holland~ If Pav is going you better get something for him. If he isn't sure he is going after nthe 2014 season you better give him a reason to stay. Do you have it in you to move this team forward?

Dreger: Wings 'very interested' in Bouwmeester *merged*
pondrocket replied to b.shanafan14's topic in General
Please no.... If he was 3,000,000. then fine if he played on the third pairing where E should be playing. Rather do nothing than handcuff ourselves into something that prohibits our ability to get a top guy for the coming season.
