    Red Wings re-sign Quincey: 2-years, $7.55m total, $3.775/yr

Actually plenty of people were upset when the deal happened. Welcome to shmoville Detroit. It was an INCREDIBLE run! I absolutely enjoyed it!! Thank you Mr. I! I see Calgary as the new rivalry for the Wings.

    Ken Holland, Post-Scotty Bowman

Who was the GM before Holland????? Bowman. Brian Murray also made improvements prior to Bowman taking over for him.

    The Next Move

That doesn't mean much. Not long ago he would have centered the 3rd or 4th line. That is the result of parody & Holland sitting on his hands for three years.

    The Next Move

Betcha Holland is putting together his best pitch for Shane Doan...... It would be an excellent recovery step. 4 years avg 5.75 cap hit.

    Ken Holland, Post-Scotty Bowman

I don't fault Holland for drafts. The wings were in on Euro players long before Bowman & now the rest of the league is there. Everything else I agree with. Holland has not been viewed through a clear looking glass. Some have been complaining for years. Now more are considering the problems. Let's see what Holland does. A we have no choice & B Holland made the mess now let him try to clean it up. We only have three players that would have meaningful value (Dats, Z & Kronner). Kenny can thank himself for not having much to work with. Where is Jimmy D on all of this? I actually think Holland is fighting for his reputation & future opportunities right now. Doan & Semin would sure help!

Put down the muggles, Malkin is going nowhere. Crosby is a hit away from pissing his pants every time the microwave is on.

    Rozsival anyone?

I would argue that at least Holland should have addressed the offense & gritt over the last three years. That would allow us to me more attractive to anybody. He can say anything he wants, and the beat writers will get off their knees, wipe their mouths & regurgitate it in the press. We look like a team being redesigned. Because we are. I want to have faith in Holland, I really do. He makes it difficult.

Two or three years would be ideal. Limiting his no movement options will be the key.

We had these issues with Fedorov. If Pav is good with it & Semin wanted to be here I would do it. Best way to attract a great D is to have the offense shored up!

    The Next Move

The best way to get a great defenseman is to have a powerfil offense. If Holland got Semin & Doan this year (amd a couple servicable d Bryan Allen ish....) we could get whomever we want next year. This year will be hampered by nhl / nhlpa issues anyway. It could work.....???? Love the new asst coach!

HA! That's GREAT! Maybe Holland has already asked Pav what he thought? Maybe he is reacting to Pav's advise??

    Quincey files for arbitration

The risk would be more manageable if we didn't have E signed to such an overvalued contract. Thaat could be 7 million tied up in D men that are not special.

Has the Detroit diamond lost it's shine?

I see your point, but I don't see it that way. I see a fan base concerned, maybe angry & maybe a little anxious. I think it reveals connection to the organization & the sport. You never hear from the customers that just stop paying attention. Also, the offseason is yet anotyer season within the game. I love this part of the season. I have disagreed with KH over the last three years, for sure. I still love & follow the wings & I will long after Kenny is managing Disney on ice.

What good is the regular season if you are not competative in the playoffs. I would prefer to be competative when it matters most.

Has the Detroit diamond lost it's shine?

Murray was the GM when the Wings began to be respectable again. Bowaman was the GM when the built the winner, Bowman gave the day to day GM to Holland & stayed coach. Nothing happened without Bowman giving it the OK as long as he was there. Illitch trusted him. I am hopeful that you are right. He did all that he could for Sutter. I don't fault him for that. Let's see what he does. He is on the clock!

Has the Detroit diamond lost it's shine?

Yep, they did make the finals three years ago. What have they done since? For three years Holland has ignored the type of game being played on the ice. That is why the Wings are not as attractive to players anymore. I would argue that the Wings are a 2nd tier team, on their way to a 3rd tier.

Ryan Suter agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild

Many people, including Stevie Wonder saw the Wings slipping since 2009.

If Holland brings in Carle I will stop buying Little Ceasars pizza & will not attend anything at the Fox.

It is true! It has been a GREAT run. Until 2009 I really enjoyed it!

I would keep an eye out for any client of Sheehy. I genuinely believe that he re-directed Sutter's interest. It's his job to rep the client, but I think his advise was more about Neil contributing to MN program then wat will bring the best combination of short & long term opportunities for Sutter.

Give Holland his due! On one hand he did what he could & made a responsible pitch to the right guy. On the other hand the Red Wings are not as attractive to players as they used to be IN LARGE PART because he FAILED to begin reshaping the team three YEARS ago; & that IS his fault & is the beginning of the end for him and his reputation as a premier GM. Now, lets see if he can compensate and begin to repair HIS mistakes in a meaningful way.

Still no decision from Suter. Speculation abounds.

Not so concerned about Parise, very concerned about Sutter. He has lots of options. However, the type of contract he is seeking (long & high value) Detroit is the only team (in the league) that has consistantly demonstrated the desire and ability to ice an above average team for more then 20 years. If I want to live close to my mid western home and have the best opportunity to win throughout the length of the loooooong contract how can a person not choose Detroit. On top of it playing for an original 6 team, in a hocky respectful marked with a national fan base that manages their team so that the burden of winning is spread through the whole team. They all risk success & failure together. Nobody is waiting around for the top producing players to win it. Everyone cares, everyone plays hard & they are over all decent people. How do you say no? He can pick another destination. Who knows what his situational value is?
