Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running
pondrocket replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
Doan was snubbed by Holland & Yzerman in the past. He will have plenty of offers from strong teams that have not to choose from. I think it looks like a trade will be necessary. In our case a multi team trade. The sooner we start the more competative we can become. Just my opinion. -
Parise Watch [update x2]: Red Wings OUT of Running
pondrocket replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
Time to move on from Parise. July has been coming all along. He has had plenty of time to consider where whe wants to go even before July 1. At the prices being discussed for him I would move on and beat the rush to get the best available forwards. It will be even more important if we don't land Sutter. I realize these are kids, but it's a little pathetic. It would be different if they didn't have months or weeks to consider what has the most value for themselves. -
signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

I like both of these. Strong role players. I bet it gets better........ -

I would give up both of them, Then a nice centerman from Calgary. -

While Parise & Sutter consider options Holland has to push hard for anything meaningful. Can't wait with such a shallow pool of FA tallent. -

Ott is the last one I can think of. What was he making in Dallas last year? Why aren't they too interested in bringing him back? -

thanx, that's a drag. I don't see much sandpaper out there. We needed that most, after D. -

I would hate to consider that our team's success for the next year hinges on signing these two players. The money being discussed seems way too high for me. I hope Holland is chasing down a combinations of forwards that combined will be the right compliment to the Wings & leaves them opportunity to improve in years to come. Anybody heard anything on Prust. Asham would have been good. Blue Shirts got a fair price for him. -
This is Christmas Eve for me. Here is where we truly see if Holland has it or if he has jumped the shark! I am hopeful! What about Draper as the new assistant coach?? Parise - Pens Suter - Detroit Semin - Detroit Schultz - Edmonton Whiteny - Carolina Jagr - Detroit Doan - Phoenix Carle - Anaheim or Detroit if Holland fails to get Sutter Hudler - Senators Brodeur - New Jersey Ryan Smyth - Edmonton Kostitsyn - Minnesota Prust - Detroit Gaustad - Buffalo Penner - Los Angeles Tootoo - Ottawa Samuelson -Det (Holland can't help himself)

Report: Luongo officially requests trade out of Vancouver

Who has another bad contract on their team that would need a good (not great) goalie? -
Absolutely the only site I look in on each & every day. Thank you!

"My message today is, I still think we've got the nucleus of a very good team," Holland said. "I think we've got a nucleus that can compete with the other teams in the league, but it's tough. It's parity. It's going to be hard to make the playoffs. We're going to try to make some change, but to think that we're going to kind of change the entire makeup and we're going to get tougher and we're going to get grittier, whatever things you think that we lack -- I don't know if that's possible over one summer. That's a drafting plan, that's a free-agent plan, that's a trading plan, that's a development plan." http://www.freep.com/article/20120424/SPORTS05/120424056/Wings-clean-out-lockers-Lidstrom-Stuart-Holmstrom-unsure-futures Holland is already backpedaling about making the changes he needed to begin making two years ago. Holland will try, won't get anything done get replaced next summer. The Wings will bring Yzerman to rebuild as they open the new arena. No I am not spoiled, if he tried to address what was obvious a couple years ago and failed I could live with that. Not doing anything especially at the trade deadline. He is all about excuses. I am not only on the band wagon, I am driving the truck. Fire Holland.

I believe that Babs gets it, & I am really happy about that. Holland on the other hand has a different philosophy. He isn't stupid, he has had great success. His style of team is not going to be effective in the NHL for the next few years. He refuses to abandon his philosophy (or he would have two years ago when he needed to tweak the roster). What he does isn't going to work. Next year won't be any better, and it will be his last year.

Hey Buddy~ I am here for content, and his content is spot on! If you are looking for spelling & grammar there are plenty of places you can find it. BTW the season was over at the trade deadline.
-
In my opinion we only have 3 elite players. I bet one of those retires in a few weeks. This summer is the absolute last second Holland has to improve the team before a rebuild is necessary. Truth is I bet they know it & have accepted it and are not planning to fix it. The new arena will be announced this summer or fall. They will begin rebuilding after next season & will anticipate having a rebuilt team in two or three years when the new arena opens. Hate to be so cynical but it's all a business & Hollands choices of the last few years have failed. I am extremely respectful & appreciative of the last twenty years or so. I have absolutely loved it, but the writing is on the wall.
-
That was a long time ago. It's a different league now.

We could loose him & E. Does anybody know how much Allen in Carolina makes? Would prefer him to both Quincy & E.

Time to start looking for a new coaching staff
pondrocket replied to Cali-Wing-Nut's topic in General
COMPLETELY agree! Maybe Holland can take the two assistants with him. -
I know, it is a best of 7. But this was lost at the trade deadline when Kenny "couldn't find a fit". I don't say that without feeling some of his pain. Over two decades of greatness is a tough act to change. I still absolutely trust Jimmy D to be impact-full in the planning to adjust my favorite sports team to be even more competitive in "this" NHL.
-
You are right it will be Holland's call (If Jimmy D allows it to be), & I don't like the idea of it being Holland's decision.
-
Now that is funny!........ Or is it not funny????? I guess it's only funny if it doesn't happen.

Holland will golf and will ice another decent skilled, regular season team. Vanilla. He needed to begin changing the team two years ago. The re-tooling days are over. He needs to do much more. I honestly don't think he has it in him. He will survive this year, but I bet he is a GM somewhere else by the beginning of the 14 15 season. Put a fork in him. He deserves a little bit of the sharp end of the stick. He built this one dimensional, well intended team. Get your clubs out! We will all have more time to golf for the next few years.

Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"
pondrocket replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Good suggestion. I am moving on to game two. Be prepared to let your voice be heard after the season (your being all of us who are frustrated). This will be a really big off season. They are a few months away from announcing a new arena & will want their fans to be united. Unfortunately fans could become apathetic if they don't build a team relevant to current market conditions. Enjoy the game tonight all. It should be a good one. Easily one of the best match ups of the post season
