If DeBrincat's basically twisting Dorion's arm, then maybe the price wouldn't be anything too crazy. That's what I'm hoping.

Babcock got one Cup out of a string of absolute powerhouse teams. Borderline embarrassing to think about. -
Wait, is blue CRL? It's so hard to keep track of these alts.
-
lol maybe! It's anyone's guess with SY. We know he loves him some Swedepuck. And certainly a guy like Willander screams "Yzerman player." But if we somehow end up with, like, Michkov and Simashev? I'm not gonna be super shocked. I'm prepared for pretty much anything.
-
That's as reasonable as anyone else's list. I remember there was chatter about Seider in the lead-up to draft day. People think the pick came absolutely out of nowhere, but there were people on the HF boards and some bloggers saying they'd be surprised if he didn't go top 10. There are some players in this draft class that are being talked up in much the same way. Idk. Whatever happens, it'll be interesting. To be fair, that "Not sure he's a center at the next level" thing is E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E. Everyone and his grandma says that about everyone who isn't a consensus top-5 pick. Even goalies and defensemen. "He's an agile goalie. Probably not a centerman at the next level, but..."

Are you gonna be ok, anon?

I've tried mocking the 1st round several times. It's mind-numbing. This is all I know for sure: Bedard is going 1st. Fantilli is going 2nd. Carlsson is going 3rd, 4th, or 5th. Smith is almost definitely going in the top 5, possibly as high as 3rd. That's it. Beyond that, it's all up in the air.

I'm not "romancing" anyone. I hate that we're even talking about Alex Chiasson in the year 2023 - half a decade into this infernal rebuild. But, like I said, special teams are going to be huge for us - and Chiasson was really good for our power play. If SY thinks there's a better option, sign me up. But at the same time, I see zero downside in bringing Chiasson back as an extra and veteran locker room guy for a year. It's not like he'd be taking a spot that'd otherwise be Kasper's.

Just gimme Willander and I'm happy, tbh.
-
Veleno slashed my tires last night. I saw him do it.
-
No reason not to. Even if he's just a power play specialist, our games are generally going to be won and lost with special teams.
-
He's French Polynesian.
-
Look at Vegas tryna kill Florida's momentum by dragging out this series. Genius.
-
Joe "Vanilla Slice" Veleno is the enforcer we need and deserve. Glory be to the bloodthirsy, psychopathic Frenchman.

You're likely right. Ultimately, it hinges on how good the team as a whole becomes. Same deal with Soderblom and other complementary-type guys. If, say, Larkin, Raymond, Mazur, and Kasper are all high-end(ish) generators, then Rasmussen et al. might become real gamebreakers. Rasmussen-Larkin-Mazur. Soderblom-Kasper-Raymond. I can imagine a future in which those lines are really hard to contain. But if we have to count on Rasmussen et al. to be primary drivers because we never really become a team that can just flat-out score, then, yeah, Rasmussen et al. are probably nothing special. Too tall.
-
I think Rasmussen has the potential to be Franzen, i.e. a big body who can play center and wing and who doesn't score a lot in the regular season but explodes in the playoffs. If we can pull off this rebuild and get ourselves back into yearly contention, he could be a huge x factor.

Yeah, I'm just talking really macro-level stuff. Soft team that wins the Presidents' Trophy gets crushed in the playoffs, decides to trade for a power forward, etc. Fair point lol
-
This place is boring and I'm tryna spice it up lmao

Tkachuk put up 109 points this season. Last season, he put up 104 points. He's indisputably one of the best players in the league. But the point is merely that Tkachuk's a premier power forward with bite to his game and so was Shanahan, and both the Wings and these Panthers felt they needed that kind of player.

Every single time I hear Zadina's name, I get Vietnam flashbacks to those back-and-forths you and I (and mackel, bless him) had about Zadina. -
I hate that none of you are riding shotgun with me on my quest to convince the sheeple that we don't have to live like this. You are all spineless sellouts and will be judged accordingly at the pearly gates. I don't know how you sleep at night.
-
Not saying they're as good. Just that the story arc is kinda similar.
