Yep. We'd burn a year off his ELC *and* we'd have to protect him in the expansion draft. Holland and Blashill have both stated unambiguously that he's only here for the few games and then it's back to GR for the rest of the season -- and then we'll see where he's at in the fall. He might be able to claim a roster spot straight out of camp. A solid summer of pro training could do him wonders. Until at least Tuesday. Sounds like it isn't anything too serious, though. Felt I should include him in this update because he's actually been pretty good lately and he's been putting up some points. (Some of that could be Hronek.) If he could play like this all the time and if we could improve the D group to the point where we don't need him to be a go-to shutdown guy, I think everyone would be happy.

Points update: Athanasiou (1G, 1A) - 23 goals and 41 points thru 61 games Bertuzzi (1G) - 16 goals and 32 points thru 58 games DeKeyser (1A) - 4 goals and 15 points thru 40 games Feels so weird to be able to say that about a young Wings defenseman.

It'd be reeeeeally interesting seeing him in that role against a powerhouse like Tampa. I don't mean that in a snarky way. Trial by fire, see what happens.
