  1. It is what it is, I suppose. *shrug* With only two tank drafts under our belt, it's not surprising that we've quickly exhausted this season's supply of high-end(ish) young players. But Zadina's only up for a short while and Veleno and McIsaac should be joining the Griffins next season and we've also got the upcoming draft haul to look forward to. And I think there's a possibility that Gustav Lindstrom could be coming over to the States next season. So good things are coming for both the Griffins and the Wings. (Worth noting that the Griffins are having an excellent season.)

    2019 Draft

I don't really have anything negative to say about Byram; he's an outstanding defense prospect, exactly the kind of defenseman a team like ours wants in the pipeline. Broberg is maybe a bit more boom/bust; he has great size, he's a great skater, and he has great offensive instincts, but he's kind of a work in progress overall. I'd say Byram is the more complete player at this time but Broberg could become a Brent Burns type gamebreaker. Prospect Deep Dive: Bowen Byram [DobberProspects]
  14. I suppose they could've called up Turgeon...? That's about it. Holmstrom hasn't made a strong case. Smith has 7 points on the season. The Griffins' top six is currently Elson-Camper-Frk, Puempel-Megan-Terry -- i.e. all career AHLers. Point being, the best young forward talent in our system is already on the Wings' roster.

    2019 Draft

Turcotte does remind me a lot of Larkin and Veleno. Elite skater. Not necessarily super-dynamic but works really hard and gets the job done. I feel Turcotte is more of a true two-way centerman than Larkin and Veleno were at his age, but yeah -- if we're looking for something we feel we don't already have in the system, we could do much worse than Zegras. Zegras thrives in shadow of Hughes ahead of 2019 NHL Draft [NHL.com] (January 17th, 2019) That's good stuff, and it lines up with what I've seen of him. I'm not sure if he's The Next Elias Pettersson, but I do think he's a bit of a sleeper who might explode into a bona fide gamebreaker if everything goes right in his development.
  16. This should go viral on the world wide web.
  17. Imagine the post-Datsyuk Wings being your first NHL head coaching gig. Oof. I legit feel kinda bad for the man.
