Boyle got a 2nd for the same reason we think Glendening might be worth a 2nd: playoff teams like battle-hardened veteran 4Cs who can do a lot of heavy lifting. I couldn't understand why people thought Boyle wouldn't fetch much of a return. That being said, I'm not sure we can compare a guy like Boyle and a guy like Nyquist. Right or wrong, Nyquist is generally regarded as a complementary playmaking winger who doesn't score a lot of goals and doesn't bring anything else to the table aside from that playmaking ability. Doesn't play center, doesn't kill penalties, may or may not be a boost to a team's power play, isn't really known as a high-character leader, doesn't have an especially impressive playoff resume. I want a 2nd and a Dante Fabbro for Nyquist, but I'm guessing that's not happening. We'll see.

Nyquist never gets hurt and Hughes is/will be ten times the skater and player Nyquist is. Matthews and Ekblad are big and they're hurt all the time. Size doesn't really matter re: injuries. It's more about how you play the game.

Agreed. Getting a 1st for Nyquist definitely isn't outside the realm of possibility, but a 2nd(+) is more realistic. Which is a shame, because Nyquist is the closest thing we have to a golden, um, goose. So, in the quest to obtain an additional 1st, it's possible our, um, goose is cooked. There might be something to the package idea.

So much of it hinges on what happens with the big marquee wingers. Nope. Tatar had term on his deal and Vegas had a surplus of picks. Ain't no one forking over a 1st and a 2nd and a 3rd for a few weeks of Nyquist. It'd have to be a sign-and-trade. And even then...

Yakupov played in the NHL. Zadina won't ever play in the NHL. He'll be playing in Switzerland by the end of the season, mark my words. There's a reason why he slid all the way from 3 to 6. There's a reason why he might've slid all the way from 3 to 7 had we not picked him. This kid is bad news. I seen it with my own two eyes. Probably the biggest bust in the history of the league, if we're being honest. Fire Holland. Trade Zadina while he still has value. Start the rebuild all over again. This is just an absolute disaster. The Wings are the only organization stupid enough to take a bum like Zadina. If we don't draft him, he goes undrafted. Other teams' scouts saw what I saw, which is that this kid is a bum who scores goals. Unmitigated disaster. Mike Ilitch is rolling in his grave right now.
