  1. I wanna see a Wing go off tonight. I want a five-goal explosion from someone.
  2. GAME ON LET'S GO STOP LOSING TO THE LIGHTNING
  3. Wings are being nerfed, just as they were with the implementation of the salary cap and the retroactive decision that backdiving contracts were against the rules. Wings versus the world.

God really does hate the Coyotes.
  5. Oh, I didn't see that Mabus had devoted a thread to the Mantha injury. My bad. Point still stands tho. Focus on scoring goals and winning games.
  6. Mantha's out 4-6 weeks with a hand injury. I'M SO GLAD WE'RE SO BIG ON FIGHTING. GREAT JOB, GUYS. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. WITKOWSKI IS A GREAT INFLUENCE. Megan has been recalled.
  7. Seems like people either 1) know they exist and love them or 2) have never heard of them. Meanwhile, everyone and their mom knows Oasis. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ My diet is, like, 80% carbs, yet somehow I've always been thin. It's weird.
  8. Just found out the cougar I've been sleeping with on and off for the past eight months is a Habs fan. Alexa, play One More Try by George Michael.

Imagine a 2019-2020 Red Wings rookie class of Hughes/Kakko, Hronek, Veleno, Zadina.

    In Praise of Tyler Bertuzzi

Maybe it made the game more entertaining, and maybe that's all that should matter to us as fans. But in terms of, like, actual hockey stuff and the business of being a serious pro hockey player, it was selfish and stupid. The way I see it, this whole run of reasonably good hockey the Wings have been on over the past month or so has been leading up to these next two rematches. They're the big measuring stick games. The Lightning, in particular, are a demon we need to exorcise; they're the closest thing we have right now to a hated nemesis. Removing Bertuzzi from the equation removes the one player you could point to and say, "We haven't really had this kind of player in a while. Even last season he wasn't playing like he is this season. He gives us a different dimension and might be exactly what we need against a team like Tampa that has completely owned us for a long time now." tl;dr It would've been nice to see the Wings square off against Tampa and Toronto at full strength and it's so perfectly stupid that our hottest player got himself suspended and will miss those two games (and only those two games).

So we lose our hottest player for the two biggest games of the month. Awesome. Way to go, everyone. Couldn't have scripted it any better.

I'm gonna be miffed if Bertuzzi has to sit out against Tampa. And it's Bertuzzi I'll be miffed at, not NHL Player Safety. Reasons: He has to be smarter than that. (Same goes for Rasmussen and Larkin, I suppose.) This is a big week for the team and he's been playing really well...and now we might be without him for at least one of these two upcoming measuring stick games (Tampa and Toronto). Can't risk hurting the team like that.

As @amato pointed out, the Leivo move = professional courtesy. I don't think cap considerations played much of a role, tbh.

    2019 Draft

He's definitely one that's caught my attention. (Mind you, I haven't seen him in person. Same for all but a few of these kids.) I vaguely remember him being in the top-five conversation for some people before the season started, so I'm somewhat surprised that he seems to have dropped back a bit. You could be right about the BCHL factor. I heard he didn't make the Hlinka Gretzky team, which probably has something to do with it as well.
  22. I'm pretty sour over this one tbh. The scrappiness is nice and all, but, at the same time, controlled Red Wings zone entries were pretty much nonexistent, because we just kind of accepted that trying to carry the puck around the Avs at their blue line was too tall a task and the better play was always to the dump and chase. Meanwhile, the Avs gained our zone with ease, rarely dumped it into our end. So, the Wings can pat themselves on the back for playing physically, but where it really counted, they more or less let the Avs dictate play. Need to have more of a shooting mentality. Too many forced low-percentage passes that didn't connect and resulted in nothing. Will have to be way better against the Bolts if we wanna take two points out of that game.
