Agreed. Pretty standard for him -- gets a detail or two wrong (in this case, that Tatar had no points for Vegas in their postseason run), but, on the whole, you're getting a well-informed and balanced take. I think he's got the right attitude re: Vegas and why this is really exciting for Vegas, and for Pacioretty, and -- I would argue -- for hockey itself. Granted, I've been on the Vegas HYPE! train since Day 1, so I'm biased. I love that the NHL is in that city and I really want to see the experiment succeed. So far, so good.

Bun, Wild, burn!

Agreed. From that perspective, it's kinda ugly. But it seems they want the Cup, so, in the context of a Cup push, getting a guy like Pacioretty is huge. (Though, I'll like it a whole lot more if Pacioretty signs a reasonable extension.) For the record: I think Pacioretty > Neal.
-
True, true.
-
P.S. Remember: The Knights also signed Stastny. So their top six is looking pretty darn sexy right now. If they can add a legit top-pairing defenseman like, I dunno, TREVOR DALEY, then the Cup is as good as theirs.

Just for the record, I also like this deal from Vegas's perspective. It's a steep price to pay for a non-sign-and-trade (unless Pacioretty signs an extension soon), but I want to see Vegas succeed and I've always felt Pacioretty is underappreciated. I really hope this works out for Vegas and for Pacioretty and I think there's a good chance it will. Someone's probably brought this up already, but...does this take the Knights out of the running for Erik Karlsson? Or, does it at least hurt their chances? Probably not, but I guess we'll see what we see. Big trade! Season's almost here! Happenings! HYPE!

They are Habs fans; they are stupid.

This is a pretty good deal for Montreal, I think. They now have Kotkaniemi and Suzuki as a theoretical future 1-2 punch at center, and they're probably picking in the top-5 again next year, and they have two 2nds next year. Bergevin did...a good? Tatar is going to fill our net with pucks and Zadina is going to fill their net with pucks and maybe Wings-Habs games will actually be fun this season, before Tatar gets flipped for more picks.

Oof. Hard to narrow it down to just three, but, yeah, I think I'm in agreement. Rasmussen was underwhelming against Minnesota but was much better last night. Vili Saarijarvi's been hampered by some kind of nagging ailment that's caused him to miss parts of both games. He's looked ok. Givani Smith hasn't shown up on the score sheet, but not for a lack of opportunities. He's been fun to watch. Jared McIsaac is looking like someone who probably shouldn't have slipped to the 2nd round of the draft. Patrik Rybar was solid in net against Minnesota. I thought Axel Holmstrom, like Rasmussen, was underwhelming against Minnesota and much better against Dallas. David Pope hasn't impressed me.

Rasmussen scores an empty-netter. Reilly Webb with the assist. Wings lead 3-1 with a minute left. Game over. Wings win 3-1. Have to head out now. Peace out!
-
Yup. The players you'd expect to be leading are leading.
-
Cholowski scores on a 5-on-3 PP with just under a minute left in the second. Rasmussen and Zadina with the assists. End of 2nd. Wings lead 2-0. Wings outshooting the Stars 20-8. Wings limited the Stars to two shots through the whole period. Good stuff.
-
Yo. Just got in. Missed the first period...and a Rasmussen PPG? Noice. Veleno and Cholowski with the assists.
-
Pretty much where I'm at.
-
You on Facebook? The Wings' official FB page streamed the whole game last night. I assume they'll be streaming every game.
-
Here's hoping!
-
He was an extraordinary player tho. Maybe Rasmussen is the next Zetterberg. I hope so, but I'm not counting on it. Just saying. Rasmussen's probably better suited for the wing.
-
Word.
-
Does his best work around the other team's net, which is generally a winger's place. And, while I think his skating is ok, it could hold him back in a demanding top-six center role, where skating ability is extra-important. I'll continue to hope that he becomes a great C, but I've always felt that he probably ends up a full-time W.
-
I'm really thinking Rasmussen is not going to be a centerman at the NHL level.

Game over. Wild win 4-2. My standout Wings: Cholowski, McIsaac, Rybar, Smith, Veleno, Zadina. My Wings stories of the game: The Red Wings organization is where power play prowess goes to die. Filip Zadina is good at hockey. His playmaking really does remind me of Datsyuk at times.
