Lay off the blue meth, my dude.

It's all a ruse -- everyone's playing goaltender tonight!

Sneaky dirty. I mean, he's a Penguin and former Predator, so I'm biased. But I've seen enough crap from him over the years that I feel comfortable calling him dirty.
-
Hornqvist is 31 and slow and beat-up and I don't think he makes us better in any meaningful away. Also, he's a dirty POS. I wouldn't want him on even a one-year deal. If there's an open spot on the wing, give it to a kid. We have the oldest roster in the league; it's time to get serious about getting younger, IMO. Having said all of that...I'm legit worried about Rick Nash. I'd take him over Honrqvist, but I wouldn't want him on a big long-term deal.
-
I remember him saying that (and I remember discussing it here), but I also remember him saying otherwise, post-preseason. Even without a contradictory quote, I can't see him taking three years to crack the lineup. He's on his ELC, he had a great training camp, he's one of the best prospects we've had in a long time, he's 6'6...his post-draft journey to the NHL will ultimately be shorter than what we're used to, IMO.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! HYPE! LGRW
-
(By "next year's training camp" I mean the 2018 training camp and by "next October" I mean this coming October. Stupid new year throwing off my game.)
-
I wish I could find the quote. I could be misremembering, and I could've misinterpreted what he was saying when I originally read it, but the impression I got was "2018-19 at the earliest, 2019-20 at the latest. (Assuming he progresses the way we think he will.)" I'm hoping for a really good pool of young forward prospects at next year's training camp. Rasmussen, Svechnikov, maybe a guy like Kasperi Kapanen (via a trade deadline deal), maybe we get Andrei Svechnikov/Zadina/Tkachuk in the draft. In theory, I'd be in favor of all of those players making the team. Move out Nyquist/Tatar and Helm at the deadline or the draft. Throw the fans a bone, give them something to get really excited about. A forward group with Larkin, Mantha, Athanasiou, Frk, Bertuzzi, Rasmussen, Svechnikov, Kapanen, Zadina/Tkachuk would be HYPE! as f***, in my scientific estimation. On D...I'm expecting very little (if any) turnover between now and next October. But you never know. Cholowski has been doing well in the WHL, but, for me, Hronek putting up points in the AHL as a scrawny 20-year-old rookie defenseman is a bigger story. Keep an eye on him.

Tatar's contract probably makes him a tougher sell, unless we're sweetening the deal in some significant way. Then again, I was saying just a couple of weeks ago that Nyquist's trade value is very low, and now I'm not so sure that's the case. Points being: 1) I am kind of full of s***, and 2) a lot can change in a very short span of time. So who knows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I vaguely remember Holland saying he feels Rasmussen is very close to being NHL-ready, something he almost never says about a teenage Wings prospect. And, anecdotally, damn near every article I read that mentions Rasmussen, regardless of who's writing it and who's publishing it, says he's expected to make a very serious push for a spot out of next year's camp. Even write-ups that get posted on the Wings' official site. All of which is to say: I think the Wings want and expect Rasmussen to be on the big club sooner rather than later. I just hope these wrist issues don't set him back too much.

Parity: It's everywhere.

I wan't no part of Hornqvist, unless it's just a salary balance. I'm kind of afraid that the Wings are going to target him in the summer, because grit and net-front and Sweden and Cups. mehhh... I do think Nyquist could be in play, if not with Pittsburgh then any number of other teams. He's playing well lately and his contract isn't too bad and a bunch of teams need some scoring punch in their top six.

2 POINTS! HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
-
Bertuzzi and Zetterberg with the assists. Second assist on the night for both players. Second goal on the night for Nyquist. Bertuzzi is playing his ass off here. Looks like a legit top-liner. Nyquist has been playing really well lately and has been rewarded tonight.
-
NYQUIST! 4-1! 100TH CAREER GOAL!
-
Bertuzzi is really impressing me.

For Parity is a just god.

Good pressure there from the Z line.
-
Griffins Update Griffs won tonight, putting them on a three-game winning streak. Svechnikov had one goal last night and two goals tonight. He seems to finally be emerging from his slump. Good stuff all around.
-
End of 2nd. Wings lead 3-1. I like this game. More Wings goals plz.

Jeff Blashill is my spirit animal right now. He's ripping the refs. Thank the Lord!
