Standings Update for 11/26 Edmonton beat Boston, in regulation. https://www.nhl.com/standings We're looking at a four-way dogfight with Boston, Ottawa, and probably Montreal. To make the playoffs, we're going to have to stay above those three teams. So far, so good.

Yup. If we make the playoffs, it'll be because the Atlantic is relatively weak. 3rd place in the Atlantic or bust. We have a shot at the playoffs, possibly a better shot than last season, but we're likely headed for another bottom 8-10 finish.

Actually, I just drank some more and looked at the standings and it's not so bad.

It's actually kind of eerie. We're pretty much exactly where we were at this point last season -- nearly identical record, nearly identical point total. If memory serves, this was right around the time when we started that epic, season-long run of blown leads and OT futility (not counting the shootout, of course). Our season ended up being a ton of one-goal games, most of them losses. Team can't win the games they need to win. This has been a thing since at least 2013. They can play it close (if only on the scoreboard), but they can't seal the deal and score that one goal that they absolutely need to score when everything is on the line and "next goal wins."

"yep" is my go-to- "F*** my life" response when we lose in extra time.

Didn't deserve a win tonight anyway. Barely deserved the one loser point. This game probably seals our non-playoffs fate. Boston and Ottawa have games in hand and they're breathing down our necks. Can't waste these extended homestands.

Ericsson got walked by a Devil, Ericsson pushed him straight into Mrazek, Devil hit Mrazek in the head as he was falling over. Bad times.

This is what kills me about this team. Every night we're here doing our part, drinking our booze, putting the time in. We're doing all the heavy lifting here. Wings just have to score some goals and they can't even do that. Lazy bums.

End of 2nd. Devils lead 2-1. Wings just making bad decisions. Dumb, lethargic hockey. Devils are doing a good job of clogging the neutral zone and breaking out of their end really quickly. They're also exceptionally quick and aggressive in closing in on our puck carriers when we're in their end. I'll drink to that! *pretends he hasn't been drinking for the past hour*
