Howard Mrazek Coreau sucks! Mrazek Coreau Fulcher is the future!
-
I don't think you understand how this works.
-
He should take the offer because it's market value and sitting out is not going to do him any good on any front. Holland will not trade him. No one is going to offer sheet him. If he's smart, he takes the offer and works his ass off to prove he's for real and to earn a big raise when it comes time to negotiate a new contract. If he's sitting out because of Blashill, he needs to get over himself and grow up.

My dudes, this is supposed to be a blueadams r0sterb8ion thread. I find your lack of fantasy lineups...disturbing. -

Also: another lockout. -
Dave Strader was the best in the business. More importantly, he was, by all accounts, a genuinely wonderful human being. RIP Mr. Strader

Not getting defensive. I just tend not to let people throw shade in my general direction without throwing some shade back in their direction.

In my defense, I wasn't just pulling the complaints out of my ass. You're making it sound like everyone who didn't want us to pick him was just complaining for the sake of complaining. I had specific reasons why I didn't think he was the right pick at 9th overall. And, to be fair, we still don't know that he was the right pick. Also, I don't know how long you've been a member of this community, but people "acting like they know better" is not some relatively new thing on these boards -- or in any fan community, for that matter. But keep playing Morality Sheriff and telling people how they should conduct themselves. It's endearing you to a lot of people.

And Rasmussen is coming off a wrist injury...
-
Rasmussen looks to me like he could be a future Martin Hanzal. Martin Hanzal is really good, so this is really good. I highly doubt Parenteau makes the cut. Booth might make the cut. Frk is definitely making the cut. I'm starting to suspect there's an agreement in place between AA's camp and the Wings and both sides are just waiting for LTIR assignments to free up the necessary cap space.

Lorito wins it in the shootout! I like Lorito. Would probably give him a spot over Booth/Parenteau.
-
Right, that's what I'm saying. Even if he makes the team, he'd be a fourth-liner. To OT we go!
-
Hicketts set up the goal, btw. Yes. Yes, he should.
-
Yep, good call. Lorito scores!

If memory serves, Holland had wanted Larkin to start that season in Grand Rapids. Larkin made the team because Blashill went to bat for him and told Holland he deserved a spot. Based on what Blashill's said about Rasmussen to the media, he's not prepared to go to bat for him like he did with Larkin. They want him playing center and getting tons of minutes. If he were to play center for the Wings, he'd be behind Zetterberg, Larkin, Nielsen. Which might not be a big deal, except Blashill's stated that he wants to give lines 1-3 lots of minutes each and use the fourth line relatively sparingly. And I'm not necessarily opposed to that plan. My heart wants Rasmussen up with the big club this season, but my head says no. I'm not sure it'd be the best thing for him. We're probably gonna suck, he probably wouldn't see many minutes, and ultimately it'd likely be a waste of one of his ELC years, which could come back to haunt us.

Rasmussen! PP goal. Four goals in five games for Rasmussen.

Leafs score. 1-0. Running theme throughout our preseason: we're not defending the middle/slot nearly well enough. It's been a thing regardless of who's in the lineup. Absentmindedness (leaving men unattended), passivity (not clearing the crease, not forcing men to work and battle for their positioning in our kitchen), plain stupidity (not marking trailers on opposition rush opportunities, in turn giving the trailer literally half of our zone to work with and an open lane to our net).
-
Sportsnet. Ugh. It's looking like NJ has a real stud in Hischier. Abby stoned on breakaway chance.
-
Tatar Zetterberg Nyquist Abdelkader Larkin Mantha Athanasiou Nielsen Helm Glendening Sheahan Frk DeKeyser Daley Ericsson Green Ouellet Jensen Howard Dunno if that works out, cap-wise. Too lazy to check. Not my ideal lineup, but I think it's realistic, given what we've seen in the preseason and what we know about how the organization does things.

Leafs win 4-2. Top line was good overall, though not at all on the power play. Power play was, of course, a dumpster fire. Larkin line was ok but didn't give us enough. Mantha seemed to be coasting a bit. Sheahan is like Emmerton but more vanilla and less effective. I have no idea what's going on with him. Fourth line was a black hole, though Glendening did score. Defense situation remains a mess. DeKeyser-Daley is woof, so much woof. Green looks like he's already mentally checked out in anticipation of being traded. Hicketts was our best defenseman. He didn't have a perfect game, but he was the only one of our defensemen who slightly resembled a respectable top-paring defenseman. Howard was good, made a couple of great clutch saves.

Hicketts absolutely destroys two Leafs in a ten-second span. Kid can hit, in case it wasn't already clear.
