I think from now on I'm just going to post pure concentrated passive-aggressive snark.

The Sens are known for doing right by their Swedish franchise players, so this actually makes a lot of sense.

But don't feel too bad for the Sharks, as their Cup window is clearly closing and so they're probably going to move some major pieces at the trade deadline and end up with two top-ten 1sts of their own. Parity is awesome. Holland is awesome. I have nothing but positive things to say about the state of things.

So I was running the Tankathon simulator and holy hell was that an emotional roller coaster. I now fully appreciate the fact that landing at 1st/2nd/3rd versus landing at 4th is a straight-up 50/50 coin flip. Also, the Sharks -- whose 1st is owned by the Sens (who still own their own 1st) -- are the third-worst team in the league right now. So that's awesome.

This is the worst team in NHL history.

I can respect that. I do feel like it's kinda nitpicking tho. 7 points through 12 games. Somehow only a -1, despite playing on a team that doesn't score goals and gives up 4+ goals a game. We can't really attribute that to pure athleticism, as we both agree that he isn't blessed with any significant physical advantages. And I don't feel "He's a very hard worker" is a satisfactory explanation. I would say the high IQ is there and that it simply isn't manifesting the way we might've hoped it would be manifesting by this point. It could be that Zadina's full potential is a reliable, quietly effective player who consistently makes the right play and finds a way to get the job done. Sort of like Zetterberg.

Fair questions, I suppose. Personally, I think the explanation is probably that Yzerman simply wants to kick the goalie can once or twice or thrice or however many times it takes. He's hoping to find some no-name guy who can give him a reason to trade Bernier to the Devils for a 7th round pick. IMO. The goalie sitch has degraded to the point where finding That Guy (and/or a good stopgap UFA, e.g. Markstrom) is now a top priority, Saarijarvis be damned.
