Sure didn't play like they were amped up. That was awful. Absolutely awful. Nothing is clicking. Nothing. -

Rask was totally screened on Datsyuk's shot. He had no chance. -

Does Tom Rennery actually do anything? Like, if he's not helping the power play, and he's not drawing up plays during timeouts, and he's not managing the line changes... -

I think he's hinted he might go that way if Andersson isn't really clicking right off the hop and/or he wants to get into the matchups chess game straightaway. Alfie's out, back problems. Andy's taking his spot on the third line, but he'll probably get bumped down to the fourth, with Leggy moving up to the third. -

No changes beyond Andersson taking Alfie's place on the third line. I think? -

I really do love the 'hawks' home reds. Can't touch our home reds, but still.

gdt ECQF Game 2 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Bruins 4 - Series tied 1-1
Dabura replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
The Wings have to bend without breaking. But that's much easier said than done, especially when yesterday was, for a number of our players, their first real taste of an elite team in ruthless desperation mode. Look at the job Z did on Toews, and Z wasn't even running his ass into the glass at every opportunity like the Bruins are doing to Smith. (And it's not like they just picked Smith's name out of a hat and said, "OK, he's the one we're gonna work on." They know what they're doing.) I think Game 1 should be a general template, but the team shouldn't think for one second that it's going to be remotely that easy to claim win #2, never mind 3 and 4. The Bruins have a much better idea of what they're dealing with, and they're not terribly impressed. The best thing we can do right now is follow our game plan to its true logical conclusion, which is, quite simply, that we need to make them pay with our power play. Our speed and skill is nice, but even when we were frustrating them, it was a ridiculous play by Datsyuk that won it for us. We need a legitimate hammer. We need a power play, not whatever the flying f*** it is that we've been calling a power play for how many straight postseasons now? -

The Chief has spoken: http://kuklaskorner.com/a2y/comments/out-came-the-belt Bang on, IMHO. -
That Killorn was in the crease and made significant contact with Price probably made it harder for Price to track the play, move side to side, and, ultimately, get himself in position to stop the shot. Price shouldn't have to deal with Killorn being in his crease and obstructing him while his team is defending and he's trying to position himself to stop any attempt that comes his way. If that's ok, then we might as well have Bert sit in the crease and then scurry out when it looks like we might be able to catch the goalie out of position and beat him. "How's that not a good goal?! Bert wasn't impeding him on the shot!" I think that's all mostly moot, though. The rule asks, "Was there contact, and was a goal scored?" That's exactly what's happening here - contact, and a goal is scored. It's not really a subjective judgment call. It's not "Could he have had that one?" There was significant contact, and the puck was in the net all of, like, two seconds later.

There is no reason to want Bertuzzi in. He's not physical, he doesn't actually help on the power play, and you know he's a couple stupid penalties waiting to happen. We need goals, Alfredsson is a goal-scorer. He hasn't scored, but neither has anyone else. Glendening is fine. He has one more goal than Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan, Jurco, Franzen, Alfredsson, Helm, Legwand combined..

The no-goal sucks, but it was the right call.
-
Hey, way to soften those Habs up for us, TB, you losers.
-
You forgot the new training staff.

The thing I don't like about him trying to play the puck more in these past two games is that, by his own admission, it's because he saw Mrazek do it and he thought it was great. Which is fine. I'm all for trying to improve your game and become a more complete player. Just save it for later, i.e. after the playoffs. Don't experiment against the frickin' Bruins. He was probably in their heads a bit, and now he's not, largely because of that stupid mistake. As for him being average, I'd say he's probably above average. Name 12 goalies who would tear s*** up behind our defense.

I've never had a problem with huge celebrations in the playoffs. This season, I feel like every team has a great reason to be jacked up, from the upstart Avs (man oh man was the Pepsi Center ever rocking last night) to the Cup-or-bust Blues taking on the defending champs in the very first friggin' round. Storylines galore. Teeth bared. Knives out. Knobs to 11. PLAYOFFS!
