Riley Sheahan - Underappreciated and Overshadowed?

He's playing like a legitimate second-line center. Given that everyone - everyone - had him pegged as a borderline bottom-sixer, that's amazing. To me, it's that he's well-rounded. Big, good on both sides of the puck, and a ton of upside. I friggin' love this guy.

    4/4 GDT - Sabres 2 at Red Wings 3

    Must win.
  7. I'm just rationalizing now, but, in a masochistic way, I kind of like that we're not remotely in the clear. Forces us to bring it every night. Brings out the best in us.

    Iginla-Rinaldo Fight

My impression was that they weren't totally clear on why Iginla - who's never injured - was held out last night. Were they just resting him? Was he hurt? A bit of both?
  9. If Bernier's injury is serious, that's a major blow to the Leafs.
  10. Buffalo needs to be 4 points in the bag for us.
  11. Leafs get at least a point. Bruins will carry about a minute of PP time into OT. I hope Minnesota misses the playoffs.
  12. Flames about to beat the Bolts.
  13. This all seems strangely familiar...
  14. The Season of Cosmic, Karmic Weirdness and Associated Hair-Pulling never fails to disappoint. By which I mean it always disappoints. Though I very much like this whole Wings beating elite teams thing, so...gotta take the bad with the good, I guess.
  15. Good stuff: Eastern Conference Playoff Round Table Thunderdome [PensBurgh]
  16. Actually, this is kind of interesting. The Flyers seem to have cooled off quite a bit, so much so that they might be in a legitimate funk right now. So, their final six opponents: @ Bruins Sabres @ Panthers @ Lightning @ Penguins Hurricanes The Jackets are going to finish strong and make the playoffs. We know this. They came up a hair short last season, and they're not gonna let it happen for a second straight season. If they can bump the Flyers for the third spot in the Metro, and if the Flyers continue to stumble, that might make the wild card race even more interesting than it already is. Especially for Pens fans. lol
  17. Jackets pull ahead with 2:53 left in the second. Worth noting: the Jackets are right behind the Flyers in the standings. This...does not please Pens fans.
  18. Seems like the Leafs came to play. Good on them.
  19. Wow, Bozak puts the Leafs ahead with 12 seconds left in the first.
  20. Bruins and Leafs tied at one near the end of the first. Flames up 2-0 on the Bolts, not sure what period. Flyers and Jackets tied in the second. Hurricanes up 3-0 on the Stars in the second. Hurricanes seem to be clicking. Good thing we got those two points last night, as I'm not sure we win our game against the Hurricanes.

    4/2 GDT - Bruins 2 at Red Wings 3

Y'know, even if we don't make the playoffs...these last couple weeks have been wild. Every game going down to the wire; Nyquist the "shooting star"; the kid line's heroics; Howard slowly but surely re-emerging; 0.4 seconds; Helm getting a hat trick; Glendening and Miller shutting down the likes of Crosby and Stamkos; Smith playing like a top-four defenseman; being David rather than Goliath (see: last night)...it's a crazy time to be a Red Wings fan. One-year rebuild! w00t!

    Toews

They only have a few games left, and they're mostly meaningless. (Home ice, big whoop.) I think they're mostly just resting him. Under different circumstances, he'd probably be playing. Let's not forget: they won the Cup last season, and they - Toews and Kane - really haven't had much trouble with injuries. Point being, they were probably due for some rest anyway.
