Someone needs to gently tap Franzen on the head. That'll get him going.

You're just saying that cuz he's Russian.

Gotta push back. Feels like we're just kind of weathering the storm.

Franzen needs a goal. No doubt.

For some reason Smith is way better as a #2 then as a #5.

What the flying eff is with us and the last minute of play? Good stop by Howard, but come on.

We're giving them a lot of room to work in our zone. Backing off, collapsing, running around. Get the puck out of your zone when you have a chance. Please learn this lesson, Wings. Please.

So basically Kronwall getting injured had to happen so Smith could prove his worth on the PP. It's all part of the plan. Now we just have to hope Kronwall's ok. He's back in action, which is a very good sign. Adversity? We eat it for breakfast.

Top player injured, Kyle Quincey costs us a goal. Yup.

Kronwall probably has a concussion. If so, season's over.

The Xcel Center looks kinda small from the front.

Jordan staal or jeff skinner on the move?

Yup, Ilitch and Karmanos do not like one another. And now we're in the same conference. It's a shame. I'd love any one of those three.

    Gustav Nyquist Appreciation Thread

It's cool because I read Sean McIndoe's piece on shooting percentage stuff last night and it made me think of Nyquist. I think the most interesting and promising thing about Nyquist is that he's managed to be such a dangerous, prolific goal-scorer (going back at least as far as his college days) while playing with a pass-first playmaker mentality.

    Neal and Legwand fined

$5,000 isn't even a slap on the wrist. It's a tummy tickle. So: cross-check someone in the face, get tickled. Good job, Shanny. Way to send a message.

    50 UP

Ville Leino is doing what it takes to get that #1 pick. He's the only one who really gets it. You mock him now, but one day, when the Sabres are the most dominant team in the modern era, you'll remember Ville Leino, the selfless hero who took it upon himself to turn the organization around and put it on the path to future glory. And you mocked him.

Also, I really like the Wild's top six. Imagine if they re-sign Moulson and add Vanek.

We really need to figure out how to hold a lead. The Avs are something like 30-0-2 when leading after two periods. Point being, youth and inexperience is not an excuse. Game-time decision.

3/20 GDT - Penguins 4 at Red Wings 5 (OT)

Well, I mean, they certainly aren't exactly alike. But it's the same basic idea.

http://www.reddit.com/r/DetroitRedWings/comments/2109qw/can_we_all_just_take_a_moment_to_appreciate_the/ Seriously: Luke F****** Glendening. He shut down Sidney Crosby. He was a beast on the PK. He generated offense and was a major factor in Bertuzzi's goal. He threw his weight around. He agitated like a seasoned superpest and drew two big penalties, one of which - the fallen stick one - was a thing of beauty. (Made it seem like he'd intended to retrieve the stick before Neal pushed it away. Sold it.) We beat the Pens in '08 largely on the strength of our depth. Last night reminded me a bit of that series in this regard. Is Glendening the next/new Helm?

Stole it from here. It really is sick, in two senses of the word.

Khan says Helm says he's good to go. Fingers crossed.
