Totally unrealistic on every level, and made my eyedrums bleed. I like it! -

Enstrom almost certainly isn't that guy, but I'm just throwing stuff against the wall. Knew he was reasonably happy in Winnipeg, but didn't know he had a full NMC. Sucks. And are the Jets really contenders? I mean, even for a playoff spot? *checks* Hey! Good for them! Show's what a good solid winning streak can do. I really like Almqvist. Guess it sort of goes without saying. But my impression is he's struggling this season, and questions about his size and mobility are looming larger and larger. Still, I guess it would make sense to at least give him a chance, provided a better option doesn't present itself. Of course, the worry there is that we simply may not have room for him on our blue line, and his waiver exemption expires next season, I believe. So I'd be thinking about maybe moving him. -
Vanek and Franzen actually aren't all that different from each other. Certainly not $5M apart.

I've always had a soft spot for Rafalski types, i.e. diminutive defensemen who get by on their smarts, offensive instincts, puck-moving prowess, PP proficiency, point production. And now, with probably our biggest problem being that our blue line is "forwardly challenged," I'm extra big (cough) on this kind of player. So, another name: Tobias Enstrom. -

I just can't envision a scenario which sees Alex Edler going for cheap. Unless he demands a trade. Which, at the rate things are going in Nucks Land, might actually happen. But still. -
Not that I have any great insight to share on this, but I tend to think it's a number of things... Blashill uses very similar - if not identical - systems in Grand Rapids We've got a Grade A locker room, one that is, of course, very friendly to HSE (Highly Skilled Euros) Nyquist and Tatar each came into this season with something to prove, a statement to make, a chip on the shoulder (both of them having had to wait probably a season more than they needed to/should have had to, and Nyquist having had to start this season in GR) ...At the same time, they're not super-hyped-up Top 10 picks, so not necessarily a ton of pressure Generally, if you're gonna be a really small and skilled player in today's NHL (and both Nyquist and Tatar are small), you'd better be damn good and damn sure of yourself, a point which Mickey Redmond has made about Tatar about 15 times this season. Nyquist and Tatar (can we call them NAT? Or TAN?) definitely have the goods, and certainly in Tatar's case there's no shortage of swagger. I think now we're seeing a little more swagger from Nyquist. (Worth noting: Nyquist, though a playmaker more than anything else, has been known as a formidable scoring threat since at least his college days) Z. Captain Clutch. Hank. Mister Emma Andersson. Zeddar-Cheddar. Grizzly Beard. The Most Interesting Man in the World (Early Years). Henrik Zetterberg has got some profoundly sick telepathic chemistry going on with Gustav Nyquist. I could watch these two set each other up on the cycle all. day. long. (DATSOOK WHO???) Wheels. Nyquist has them I'll also second the Abracadabrabdelkader love, though I've been really high on his potential as a poor man's first-line power forward since last season. He may have hammer hands, and he may make costly, boneheaded mistakes now and then (see: running the Stars' goalie late in the game for absolutely no good reason), but he's always contributing in some way, whether it's leading the team in hits or setting great screens. He makes stuff happen. Which maybe shouldn't be all that surprising, given that he's at That Age now. God help the opposition if he and Helm ever get real hands. Like, with fingers and stuff!

I'd like to add that the Lashoff penalty was stupid only in the sense that he was pretty much forced to make it by a couple of his teammates. Unless I'm remembering it wrong.

Totally. Based on points alone, we're actually in very good shape. I mean, 12 points behind the Bruins, considering all our ridiculous struggles? That ain't bad. The issue, of course, is how tight it is, i.e. 90 other teams are in pretty much the same exact position. But I like to think we've been sort of going at 50%, while much of our competition, well, hasn't.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Gillis and Holland had very loosely agreed on three pieces, and then Gillis bumped it up to four, and that killed the deal. If so...slightly weird, maybe. -
Flip and Bishop both injured tonight? Good news for us.

Andersson is probably the more valuable player. He can play on the third line, he's clutch in the faceoff circle, and he's a very good PKer. But, as I've said many times, I'm just not terribly fond of him. Glendening has been a nice surprise. He gives us a good agitating presence, some spunk, a right-handed shot. But let's also be realistic: he's a career fourth-liner. So, I dunno.

I like her a lot. I've definitely noticed this. We're supposed to be super-mobile on the back end, but I'm not really seeing it this season. Jackets up 1-0 early on a PP goal. C'mon, Kings.

Agreed. I consider Edler an offensive-minded defenseman, so I'd want him with DeKeyser or Ericsson. On paper, Edler-Ericsson is good enough to be a first pairing. -
I suppose Wings fans could just fight with each other. We're pretty good at that. Bruins score, 2-1 Blues with half the third left. I'm indifferent to this game, but yeah. Stupid Canucks. Ryan White scored?! Pacioretty had a hat trick...and he missed on two penalty shots, in the same perid?! Stupid, stupid Canucks. And Bolts. And Avalanche. And the world. Kings had better smash the Jackets. Bruins tie it up. Why am I the only one posting in this thread?

Lashoff deficiency. Sad.

Stupid Jets.

Hradek and Weekes are a great team (NHL Tonight). I know they both have a lot of obligations elsewhere, especially Hradek, but they should try to get them on NHL tonight together as often as possible. Everything Brian Lashoff does is Manly.

No, it's awesome is what it is. Gonna have to agree here.

Whoa, the Oilers beat the Rangers in regulation. Very true. Yakupov with a BLAST, the game-winner. Nice.
-
Unfortunately, it looks like we're not gonna make up much ground, if any.
-
That may be the best ending to a Wings game ever. I love Lashoff.
-
Already used it.
