I think this confirms the anti-NHL theory. There's literally no other reason why they'd pick Martin Erat over Jiri Hudler. Hudler's something of a stud, Erat is a disaster who, one could argue, has been massively screwed over by his Evil Czech-Hating NHL Overlords. Czech Pride and whatnot. I guess. Nedved, though - everyone really does just want to get with his wife.

Not that I'm opposed to signing a first-line scoring winger, mind you. I just assume we're not getting one. With Jurco making magic as a call-up, I just feel like his time is pretty much now. Send him back down to finish out this season, sure, but pencil him in for next season, provided we don't pick up a quality NHL scorer who makes Jurco a clear odd man out.

That UFA forward would have to be pretty dang good for me to not feel bummed about keeping Jurco on the farm for another season.

Though it pains me to say it, we don't have any better options. I mean, he shouldn't be getting the minutes he's getting, but, beyond our top three, who else is significantly better in a top-four role? Smith? Kindl? Lashoff?

Saw this was bumped but I'd forgotten it was against the Bruins that he broke his leg so for a second or two I'd thought he'd broken his leg again but then I put it together. He'll score 16 goals against us to make up for lost time.
