Worst start ever. Even with no goals against.

Zetterberg for Beagle, straight up. Is it Engblom?

I don't think it reflects negatively on Alfie, if that's what you're wondering. I think it gives our bottom-six some teeth, allows Babs to be slightly evil with his match-ups, etc.

Ruutu. Fleischmann. Erat. Booth. Boyes. Hemsky. Setoguchi. Jokinen. Jokinen. Ott. I could see us going for one of those, or someone along those lines.

I'd consider Moulson fairly elite. He's got that blue-collar underdog thing going on, but, really, he's a pretty proven 30-goal scorer who, like you said, is gonna get paid in the shade while drinking lemonade. But I think you're right: the days of Red Wing Star Power are probably over.

Yup. I was gonna say so, but the idea of Callahan on the Blues makes me angry. Because, honestly, it'd be awesome. For them. (Imagine a line of Steen-Backes-Callahan and be that much happier we're no longer in the Central.) A sign-and-trade kind of dealy? That might be interesting (assuming all parties would be on the same page about it). I guess one concern I'd have is that it might hurt Kenny's image/standing/reputation/karma. Every single GM in the league wants a star winger and a star defender. We'd be landing a star defender by flipping arguably the most coveted star winger rental. Wouldn't that almost be like trolling? I could see us making another deal with the Pants. (I call the Panthers the Pants. More people should do this.) There's definitely a history there. Though I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the Pants, being a cap team that would most definitely crush us in a best-of-seven, might consciously avoid further dealings with Ken Holland.

The Rangers have given a mystery team permission to speak to Ryan Callahan's agent. Link I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we're not the team in question. Then again, it's a set of tires ripe for kicking. So it probably is us.

Scoring doesn't come easy for us these days, and all of our big guns - Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, and Alfredsson - are well past their prime years. And Alfredsson may be gone next season. And the jury's out on Weiss. I love Nyquist and Tatar and Jurco and Sheahan, but we could definitely use an elite scoring winger.

I like to think that Kenny literally kicks tires. Like, he has this small collection of tires that he keeps somewhere in his office, and every day he kicks them. Then he wonders why no one is calling, so he tries kicking them again, this time with the other foot. You get the idea.

My gut has indicated post-concussion symptoms. But hey, if some guy on the hfboards said something about something, who am I to argue?

Just saw the tweet via Malik. Expect the Red Wings to inquire about Thomas Vanek from the Isles as a rental. [Chris Botta] Shouldn't surprise anyone. Every GM and his mother will be inquiring about Vanek. Plus, Kenny lives for kicking tires.

He's seemed off at times this season, mostly after the Cowen elbow. Some uncharacteristically awful plays/reads. A grimace on his face here and there. That eyebrow-raising +/-. Maybe he'd been playing through residual stuff (post-Cowen) but it got to the point where he had to put on his grown up pants and say, "Look. If this head thing is going to be an ongoing and indefinite saga, and I'm going to lead the host team to Olympic Gold, and I'm going to drag this broke-ass Wings team out of the depths of mediocrity and into the playoffs, and we're going to knock off the Senators, Bruins, Penguins, and Blackhawks/Ducks/Blues/Kings...I need a break." I wouldn't hold that against him.

I'm assuming Dats is dealing with concussion-related issues. A really minor thing has turned into a really major thing, and we've gotten pretty much zero info. That, to me, says concussion.
