Well, yeah, the reality is that they're gonna be sent down. But it doesn't have to be that way! Well, yeah, I guess it sort of does. And yet, not necessarily! Subtract Cleary, Bertuzzi, and let's say Andersson and our twelve could be Abdelkader, Alfredsson, Datsyuk, Franzen, Helm, Jurco, Nyquist, Miller, Sheahan, Tatar, Weiss, Zetterberg.

I'd count Sheahan and Jurco as two big acquisitions. I'm surprised more people don't feel this way. Here's two rookie call-ups who didn't even factor into our plans for this season and they're holding their own 1) on the second line, 2) against the best of the West, and 3) without the aid of Datsyuk, Franzen, and Alfredsson. As Babs would say: Good for them, better for us. And now it looks like we might have a really dynamic line in Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco. So, basically, we've made a seemingly serviceable second line out of Tatar and two empty roster spots. You know what that means for us? Depth. Options. Possibilities. If we can get fully healthy, we could conceivably play Z and D together and still be able to ice three legitimate scoring lines.

I'm definitely gonna think on this.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking issue with the team. I'm just willing to give Hossa the benefit of the doubt on this, because he's only the 3,471st really good player to voice his displeasure with the way we do business in emotional winning efforts. Granted, he could just be a student of the Edzo Horse Racing School of Subtle Interference and Four-on-Four Hockey (Forwards Have Forwards, Defensemen Have Defensemen, Man-on-Man).

To be fair, we have a bit of a reputation for being...dickish trolls, for lack of a better way to put it. Many players on many different teams across many years have voiced similar complaints. We saw a bit of it right out in the open with Zetterberg-Toews in last season's series with these 'hawks. Even Z's little request at the beginning of tonight's shootout (he asked the stripes to check around Crawford's crease, make sure there wasn't any snow built up around it. That was 100% about messing with Crawford.)

In a way, I'm more into this than 24/7. Well, ok, that's not true. But I like that this is going to showcase a ton of stars and that it covers several markets.

I mean, I get that that's sort of the way he plays, but this was NOT the Monster we grew so very fond of earlier this season.

Florida will crush us. Because the universe and physics. Habs game is up in the air. Unless we play like we did tonight. But I'm not expecting that.

Not to over-do it, but, WHAT A FREAKING HOCKEY GAME. The kind you want to detail in dramatic story form to the nearest sentient being, be it a friend or your pet cat. I'd forgotten how much I love beating the Chicago Blackhawks. Sooooooo satisfying.

These two teams must meet in the Cup Finals. It has to happen.

That was one of the best hockey games I've ever seen. Honestly. And you know what? The shootout made it that much better. So incredibly happy for the guys. Such a huge win in so many ways.
