Well, the point of the report would be to drive that point into the ground, through Earth's molten core, and all the way up/down to China. "He sucks" is well and good, but "Here's where we are with him, and here's where we might very well be without him (approximately)" would be really hot.

I'm not sold on this. Teams are heating up (Flyers, Devils, Habs...), and we have a masochist thing for pissing away points that should be in the bag. And I have to assume the injury woes will continue. (Why would they suddenly stop? Because we start drinking chocolate milk?) I mean, I don't want to go overboard here and say our season is over. Far, far, far from it, at this point in time. But man. We really suck.
-
Can someone do a fancy stats report on how many goals against and standings points Quincey has cost us this season? And maybe throw in Smith, since they're partners in crime.
-
Suddenly, I'm genuinely concerned about our postseason streak.
-
We are the suck. That...is absolutely brutal.
-
Totally agree. ...And yet, I can see a fully healthy Wings team putting in this same kind of performance. We've been doing this terrible-against-terrible-teams act for a long time.
-
Not a chance. She'd make everyone look bad.
-
It is. Although Randy Carlyle makes a pretty good argument - that it's really not the coach's job to always be getting his troops pumped up and engaged. They're grown men. They should be taking care of things like that themselves. I really have to wonder if these grown men are tuning Babs out.

Please no more home games against bad teams ever again. That is my Christmas hockey wish. Actually, make that no more home games, period. Also, a cure for our team-wide rickets. thx

Shut out by the Isles? Really? Really?
-
I think you're arguing for the sake of arguing. Am I saying it's guaranteed that they'd be superstars as Wings? No. Am I saying I think it's worth taking a chance on one of them or a player of the same general value, given our needs on the blue line, how obscenely difficult it generally is to fill such needs, and the fact that at least one of the aforementioned players (who could go a long way in helping the cause, and, at worst, would still probably be better than what we have) is being shopped? Yes. Our blue line needs help. If we're looking to win the Cup here and now (and I think we should be thinking that way, though not recklessly, of course), that help has to come from outside. And I'm giving you two names who fit the bill and may be available, even though I'm fairly certain you'll shoot down any name I offer, because that's the way you are.

I know what his +/- is. I also know Girardi is having a rough go of it in NYC. But another thing I know is that sometimes a guy just needs a change of scenery. New coach, different systems, maybe a better supporting cast. They're both very good players, and I'd take either of them over Quincey or Kindl or Lashoff (though I like Lashoff a lot and I still think Kindl could be a sleeper).
-
Though, to be fair, I guess you could say the same thing in Quincey's defense. But Quincey was never as good as Girardi has shown he can be and, I think, is. Bottom line, we need a defenseman like Girardi, and now he's being shopped. It makes sense.
-
And now Holland's going to refuse to move a first-round pick for a guy who we seriously need and who would seriously help. Because of Quincey. I think the Avs dealt him here because they knew he'd submarine us. I know, beating a dead horse. But for the love of God, what does this guy have to do to get his ass sat? Oh noes, a hockey player had a bad season!
-
The thing with Quincey is he's not just bad, he's very literally a factor for the other team almost every game we play. He singlehandedly costs us games and points. Whether it's boneheaded plays or boneheaded penalties or both, he kills us, with incredible, borderline hilarious consistency.
-
The all-time record doesn't really say anything, I agree. But it's a fact that the Wings have struggled against the Isles for some time now. That's the main idea. That the Isles are kryptonite to us, going all the way back to, what, 2003? 1776? Something ridiculous like that.
-
I think we can now safely say, without any trace of doubt, that we need, need, need to add a veteran top-four defenseman. We're interested in Edler, Girardi is being shopped - get someone good, give him Quincey's spot.
-
The Isles have had our number for awhile now, Crymson.
-
Quincey for the Norris. He helps 29 teams in the league.
-
More stupidity than lack of zip. Poor decisions.
-
In a better, alternate universe, Kyle Quincey and Brendan Smith is not our freaking second pairing. Yeah, we'll win the Cup with that.
-
I love Kyle Quincey. And by love I mean hate.
-
We are pathetically soft, but I'm not sure what you're basing the no-chance-in-the-playoffs part on. We beat the Ducks in seven games last season with pretty much the same roster, and we took the vastly superior Cup champs to overtime of game seven. And so far this season we've handled the Big Bad Bruins - everyone's pick for the biggest, toughest team in the league - pretty well. And before we let the bigger, tougher, scrappier Leafs back into the game on Saturday, we were handing it to them in pretty much every way, driving the net on our first three goals and such. Granted, the playoffs are a different animal. But I like our chances in the East. (I believe the West is the much tougher conference, physically and overall.) Maybe we add a little sandpaper at the trade deadline?
-
I friggin' love Jeff Blashill. If we had to replace Babs, he'd be my #1 choice. I fear he'll be snatched up by another organization. Sabres? Isles? Flames?
-
I think the reasoning is that "Leafs" is the plural of a specific thing, a specific leaf, namely the Canadian Maple Leaf. The players play for and represent that leaf. But I'm not Canadian, so I'm probably wrong.
