Surely there will be an adjustment period when he returns. At the very least, he'll be rusty. As for this being the last straw for him, I don't think I can get behind that, because 1) you can't really do anything about injuries like this one (this isn't something Weiss should be reprimanded and held accountable for), and 2) it's possible he's been dealing with this, in some capacity, for longer than we might think. Is it just a coincidence that he started decently (at least in the effort and sticking-with-it department) but at some point became more like a zombie than an actual hockey player? Maybe, maybe not. Personally, I like the idea that this issue first popped up as the injuries were really starting to mount, so he felt obligated to suck it up and stick it out and step it up to cushion the blow of losing Zetterberg et al. - a decision which, while admirable, ultimately aggravated his condition and brought him to where he is now.

Reading recaps of the game and such, I find one of the general messages is that these teams are very evenly matched. Which may be true, but I'd like us to have Zetterberg, Nyquist, Helm, Franzen, Abdelkader (and Howard) (and Weiss) healthy in a game against them before that call is made.

Dunno if we're that deep. But we're definitely deep.

I'm totally fine with him going back down, because that's where he should be. Whereas Nyquist had absolutely nothing left to prove there and was cheated out of something he'd definitely earned.

Another thing: How great was Jurco's goal? You've got the power-forward thing where he dumps Franson in the corner. Then you've got the sniper thing where he disappears, slips out of the play as the puck goes to the point. But he never really disappears, the Leafs just suck at defense and don't notice he's going to the net, like a boss. Kid (and he literally is a kid) is a stud.

We're Red Wings fans. Irrationally hating everything about the Maple Leafs is in the job description.

How big is Monster's paddle save on Phaneuf? He doesn't make that (disgustingly awesome) save and I bet we lose.

They were absolutely brutal.

The officiating really hasn't been that bad. It's been one-sided, but you knew that was going to be the case in this game. Wings have to play smarter, not hand the game over with stupid dinky little slip-ups and mental lapses. The one thing that pissed me off was the net dislodgement. You could actually hear Dats yelling, "HE PUSHED THE NET OFF!!!" That was absolutely mind-boggling. And then they spent a minute fixing the net...that had been illegally dislodged.

A blown two-goal lead! Fantastic one period, horrific the very next! A Brendan Smith penalty! A Kyle Quincey penalty! RED WINGS HOCKEY!!!!!!
