GUYS I JUST HAD A GREAT/HORRIBLE IDEA Nyquist - Helm - Tatar. AS OUR SECOND LINE. PARADIGM. SHIFTED.
-
Dmitry Kulikov would be an interesting addition.
-
Brian Campbell. Let's trade for him.
-
To be fair, no one really expected Datsyuk to become *Datsyuk* or Zetterberg to become *Zetterberg* or Lidstrom to become *Lidstrom*. But I get where you're coming from.
-
Boom. This. I'm seeing some increasingly disturbing parallels to Weezer/Rivers Cuomo.
-
Whoa, that is actually exactly what I was going for. +1

Is it me, or has Kindl really regressed? (Versus where he was last season.) -

I broke a collarbone once. Very, very unpleasant. My only hope here is that maybe Holland feels compelled to pull the trigger on one of those mythical "good trade" things. (Del Zotto? Niskanen?) And/Or maybe one of our Griffins gets a legitimate Opportunity. Also, can I just say, this whole gets-injured-just-as-he's-starting-to-really-take-off business needs. to. stop. -
Can we blame this losing streak on the cameras? No? Darn.
-
Hahaha, +1
-
We're not THAT bad.
-
Agreed. If anything, we're too blue-collar. Our forward corps basically has a bottom nine, with Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Tatar being the three exceptions.
-
Well, I'm not saying Mr. I had a gun to Holland's head and fingers in all his pies. I'm talking more about general accountability. You'd think a losing streak like this, for an organization like this, and coming after years of disappointment (we haven't been past the second round in "ages"), might at least warrant a "Ken, what's going on? This is unacceptable," or something to that effect. I mean, obviously it's kind of a stupid point because we don't really know much at all about Mr. I's "style" when he was younger and healthier, never mind now. But you see where I'm coming from, right?
-
They're actually doing reasonably well lately. (The Flyers, I mean.)
-
Do you think Mr. I's poor health could be a factor here? Maybe he'd kept Holland on a shorter leash than we realize. Or, at the very least, there must've been more accountability, when he was healthier, sharper.

To be fair, wasn't Babs more than ok with Cleary coming back (as far as we know)? And isn't the coach the one making the boneheaded decisions regarding ice time and line combos and defense pairings? I mean, hey, let's try Cleary with Datsyuk and Zetterberg AGAIN because, s***, why not???? Babs is losing his marbles. Again, though, I do believe most of the blame falls on Holland. I think, for example, if Babs had a couple of really big, strong, physical Canadian grinders (really GOOD ones), Cleary probably wouldn't see the ice. But when Babs says, "OK, I need a heavy game. I want my third line to create a heavy, grinding forecheck that'll create sustained pressure, wear down the opposition, draw a penalty or two, maybe even score a goal. Good idea, right? Yeah, we definitely need that heavy forechecking. So, my options are...Cleary...and...Andy...and...Sammy. FML" - that's on Holland. Our whole crappy roster is on Holland. This no Nyquist bulls*** is on Holland. Etc. But, at the same time, I think better coaching squeezees out at least two wins in this losing streak, and then you're not even talking about a losing streak, and fans aren't screaming for anyone's head. Babs has been incredibly "out there" this season (you can see it in the decisions he makes and some of his comments), and he needs to rein himself in and get back on track. If that doesn't happen...well, personally, I'm practically in love with the idea of Jeff Blashill coaching the Wings.

Does Zetterberg have to be a better captain?
-
I'm actually really liking Ericsson right now, if only because he hasn't been around for this whole losing streak. But no, it's more than that. He's been really good for us. I really have nothing negative to say about him. I think McKenzie's report sounds like a very reasonable deal for a solid #2, which is exactly what Ericsson has become and will probably be for the next several seasons. We just have to hope and pray he doesn't regress.

Hey. Guys? And Gals? I know we're all seething with hate, but it's cool that we all seem to be on more or less the same page, for once. *group hug*
-
I was wondering: Can we do that? We can't actually do that, can we? I mean, the two guys would have to sign new contracts or something, right? (I know pretty much nothing about coach contracts.) I am a huge fan of Blashill. The guy gets it.
-
Guys and Gals, We must reconsider everything. What if we trade Jimmy for an awesome return and just go with Mrazek as our starter? Should Blashill take over for Babs? Should we look into trying some kind of mystical rain dance victory ritual dealy? Is there any way we can get Daniel Cleary back in the top-six, preferably on the first line with Pavs and Z? Daniel Cleary voodoo doll(s)? All those octopi that've jumped over the glass and fallen to the ice over the years...could it be that they've been trying to warn us of the suckage to come? Did they know?
