Perfect Human's in the house

No Nash, Lundqvist, Hagelin, Callahan.

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/25/sweden-unveils-olympic-jerseys/ I'm definitely (secretly) rooting for Sweden now. I still think the stuff on the shoulders looks like semen, though.
-
I'm all about the doom and gloom and pessimism, but honestly, I feel pretty good about our future.
-
(Also: no Hagelin, I think.)
-
Can we change the thread title to "Nyquist taking it up the ass, with pride"?
-
In the Kinda Sorta Feel-Good Department, our opponent tonight - the mighty New York Rangers (who most pundits have picked to finish ahead of us) (and they very well may) - have scored twelve goals thus far, five of those belonging to Brad Richards. Additionally, they'll be without their heart-and-soul captain Ryan Callahan, their resident former Wings killer Rick Nash, and the best goalie in the world in Henrik Lundqvist. Point being, if we lose tonight, we suck. And if we don't score at least three goals, in a winning effort, we suck.

You don't have to mention Cleary in every post you make, Crymson. In fact, I bet you're doing exactly what he wants. Be strong. Don't let him win.
-
For the record, I hate the Reebok System. I don't care if they're lighter and more comfortable and all the same and whatever. Look at the Avs jerseys from the mid-90s and look at them now. The Evil Powers That Be said, "You know what, this stuff needs to be cheaper. Dirt cheap. But we're gonna charge the same for retail. Hahaha!"

I actually kinda like the third line. Like J.J. @ WIiM said, it's sort of a Grind Line throwback dealy, at least on paper.
-
I'm not shouting, I'm whispering intensely.
-
IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY
-
The third line looks pretty good, for a checking line (as opposed to a third scoring line). And, yeah, it'd probably be better with pretty much anyone else in Cleary's place. Except Sammy.
-
But mostly out of necessity, not preference. We only went "all in" with the youth last season because we absolutely had to. We were supposed to have a very veteran roster last season. That was the plan. If Holland could have his way, there'd be only a few young guys on the roster. And indeed, we're still a long ways from being largely young up front. (Note that Andersson is only up because the more veteran Helm is out. Though, in fairness, Helm is only 26. But still.)

Vikings...se(a)men...ship...get it? THE SWEDISH ARE AWESOME

You guys don't like it? Maybe it's a little boring and already-done, but at least it's not, like, offensively bad (see: pretty much all the others that have been revealed so far). It has a genuinely classic feel, IMHO. I like it.
-
Well, I'm definitely not calling for an "all-youth" team. Veteran leadership has been a staple of Wings hockey since the mid-90s. I'd just like to see a little more youth, especially when that's supposed to be The Big Thing going forward. I'm not at all opposed to dressing veterans, but when you've got a situation like this one, where Nyquist is clearly one of our better forwards, and Cleary and Samuelsson would probably be in the AHL if this were any other organization...it's silly. And it may be costing us valuable points - so, actually, "silly" may not be the right word for it....
-
I like those lines. I'm happy and excited for Tatar. Hopefully he takes full advantage of this situation.
-
I guess my big problem here is that he signed Cleary in the first place. More specifically, he signed Cleary after all of his talk about the importance - no! The need to get younger, build and promote from within, etc. And here we are with Cleary, Samuelsson, Bertuzzi (who I actually do like, and who has, thankfully, been pretty good so far). I'm love-hate with Holland. He seems to talk out of his butt a lot because he knows most people will eat up anything he says. (Does no one realize that he's shown just a tiny bit more than zero faith in our youth, all while saying youth is everything?) And yet, he does have a way of making things at least mostly right, and sometimes pulling rabbits from his magical hat. Probably the best GM in the league, but he does seem to be slipping a little these days. Maybe I'm being too hard on him. (It's likely I am.) I get extra-grumpy, and slightly confused, in times like these, when our team looks an awful lot like the Winnipeg Jets. *shudder*

Hopefully Tatar's in the lineup to stay and Nyquist isn't far away. All we can do is hope.
