That, and/or we bring back - or, um, forward - the Franzen from the Avs series. Hard to believe now that there was a time when he could single-handedly win a whole round for us like that. True.

Would absolutely love Callahan, but he's one of the last guys I'd expect to be traded (anytime soon, at least). But then, no one - NO ONE - expected Daniel Alfredsson to up and leave Ottawa, so ya never know. Therefore, Franzen and Smith will be traded. Huzzah! Next best thing: we get a time machine and get ourselves an older Smith. 4-5 years from now sounds about right. I'm not sure how a time machine would help the Franzen situation, but I'm working on it.

I'd be very surprised if Smith was involved, unless Holland wanted more than just Edler coming our way.

For the the record, I'm a big believer in Smith. And I like Franzen better than most here. More than anything, I'm just terribly bored, and prone to daydreaming. (Screw reality, man.) Good points, marcaractac. Basically what you're saying is, we need to move Franzen and Smith - but only for a defenseman. I'm with you.

Dustin Brown might be my (pipe)dream pick-up. Not happening, of course. But, point is, I know what you're saying. I can dig it. Do you think we could move Franzen and Smith (and a pick/prospect?) for a scoring winger? Who would you like for us to land?

He made that great steal near the end. Liked what he brought to the PK.

I actually don't think I'd make that trade. I know Holland put in an offer or something for Edler, and I - like Tortorella - think Kassian might have more potential than most give him credit for. Like, LPF (Legitimate Power Forward) heights. But, well, I guess my big worry would be Edler. I get the sense he's kinda hit his ceiling, and so we kinda know he's never going to be a first-ballot Haller...whereas Smith, disappointing though he's been thus far, really does have great potential. But then, the premise is that I DON'T WANNA WAIT / FOR OUR LIVES TO BE OVER. We need at least one more Cup out of Datsyuk and Zetterberg. So maybe I'd do it. Maybe. I think I'ma make a thead about this, cuz I'm bored. Also, kip, what the HELL are you talking about? lolz

More lazy than bizarre, IMHO.

I do kinda miss Flip. I was all for the Weiss signing, but I'll admit, he's looking really bad right now. But I'm sure he'll get better as he gets more comfortable. All those years on the Panthers, a team that really couldn't be more different than the Wings...that's a long time and a lot of stuff to unlearn. Sort of the same deal for Flip, I guess, but it might be easier for him, for several reasons.

Even if he just draws penalties, that alone is pretty big. (Assuming our power play can keep it up and become "our enforcer" like it was back in the day.) What I didn't like about the Newbury slash was that Tootoo's hit was clean. Now, granted, maybe it's a little late in a 5-2 game for a big hit. But you don't slash the guy like that. Very bush league.

Franzen + Smith (+ something?) for a top defenseman. I'm sure Smith will be the best defenseman ever one day, but I don't want to wait. FOR OUR LIVES TO BE OVER Also, +1 ogreslayer.

Great win. Bad in some respects (e.g. we are TERRIBLE in our own zone), but man oh man, a whole lot of good. Bert was absurdly awesome.
