So I sort of half-interestedly re-watched (NHL Network). Didn't know it was Alfie with the blind man's assist on Z's equalizer. He - Alfie - was so psyched on the bench. It looked like he gave Z a big ol' butt slap, and then he did a super slide to the right on the bench. It was cool to see him so happy. We were soooo lucky to come out of there with two points. Sooooooo lucky.

They luuuurve Brunner in NJ. No one will say it, but they're all hoping he turns into Kovalchuk 2.0.

I think of him as a high first-round draft pick. Maybe even a first overall.

This. We got lucky last night. And even the Sabres game, if Vanek hadn't hit iron on that one shot... Point being, gotta bring our A game tonight, and for the full sixty. And that whole our-power-play-is-our-enforcer business better start, y'know, being true, and stuff. The Bruins are a very good team that very nearly took the 'hawks to seven in the SCF. I like that I've not seen or heard a single "We basically won the Cup, sort of" from anyone in Bruins Land; their fans (and players, I'd say) are generally classier than they get credit for. (No, I absolutely will not miss tangling with the 'hawks and their legion of braindead bandwagon fans 80 times a season.) A win tonight would be huge for us, a nice early statement.

Can we just ice the Griffin instead? Yeah, it's not like Z and D are having Abdelkader forced on them against their collective will. Thing is, as we all know, they need someone who can bring a physical element but also keep up in terms of skill, speed, and IQ. Cleary? Bertuzzi? Miller? We really don't have many physical guys, and the ones we do are bottom sixers.
