It's tongue-in-cheek, as are all the other entries in the series. I've been reading them the past few days and, I have to say, I've actually learned a few things. Which is cool.

Didn't they very recently (like, yesterdayish) name the Penguins, Ducks, and Senators the best three NHL franchises? Or did I dream/nightmare that?

Let's not forget: there won't be an All-Star Game this season. So The League has to "recoup" that loss, in terms off both $$$ and spectacle.

I'd like to add: I'm not a huge fan of shootouts deciding games the way they currently do. But, this particular shootot - I was watching it with a group of friends, a good mix of serious, casual, and non hockey fans, and at one point I sort of "stepped back" to watch them watch the shootot...and you know what? They were all smiling, laughing, joking, totally engaged, having a great time. That's pretty special, IMHO.

No worries, I'm just giving you a hard time. Brunner kinda showed flashes of playmaker...ness with us, didn't he? Oh well. Nyquist is a better playmaker and Tatar is a better scorer, IMHO. And you're probably right about Tatar-Cleary. And that is sad.

So, if they lose Clarkson (and Kessel?), how do they replace him/them? Or do they replace him/them at all? Might Holland be giving Nonis a call, or vice-versa? Probably not, but...9/30's less than a week away....

I actually thought Weise's was the more "Holy crap, did he just do that?" of the two. He was literally head hunting. Whereas I can't imagine Kassian meant to do what he did. I think he got careless, and that was compounded by frustration and what not. Sort of a "Oh, maybe I hit someone with my stick, but I don't really care. Besides, what are the od--OH s***!!!"

Isn't swinging your stick an automatic suspension? So they could be without Clarkson and Kessel. Which is cool, because we have a home-and-home against them this week.

Anyone who's upset about this, or even anyone who can understand why someone would be upset over this, is ridiculous. It was a hundred-round preseason shootout between the Leafs and Sabres, and I can barely remember the names of the goalie and guy who did it. Carlyle was smiling and laughing. Rolston was having fun with it. People are making it sound like the guy threw his skate at the net or something. Hundred-round shootout in a preseason game. Lighten up. Hockey's allowed to be fun every now and then. And another thing: everyone's talking about it. I mean, beyond just hockey fans. I say that's good for the game.

I wouldn't put too much stock in this. Not that I don't want Tootoo in the lineup, mind you. (I do.)
