Let's not forget, he's got a bit of a mouth on him. I wouldn't be surprised if that has something to do with it. He'll find work, though. Because he's a pretty good defensemen, and even crappy defensemen are at a premium, it seems. It may just be that he'll have to wait for the injuries to set in. (Watch, Holland brings him back. RECLAMATION PROJECT!!!1)

It's not just wearing a helmet, though. ("If you put on our helmet, you may incur injury! mwahahah!") If we're talking about helmets in the context of fighting, hands are inextricably intertwined with the issue; it's not that helmets can lead to injury, it's that punching a helmet is almost guaranteed to screw up your hand(s). Ask Joey Kocur. -

Not all Wings fans are as tuned into the Wings as we are, i.e. not everyone who's going to read about the alumni game is going to know about Gordie Howe's condition (or that he's as old as he is) or Vladdy's condition, e.g. "Oh, has Konstantinov fully recovered? That's great! Wait, which one was in the wheelchair? Was that, what was his name, Kozlov? Wait, which ones were in the limo?"

Well, to be fair: 1) two different teams (with different situations, needs, etc.), and 2) RNH looks like he's going to be a lot better than Brunner will ever be (not that I don't like Brunner). I think I agree with your main point, though. -
