Probably another stadium game.

Well, to be fair, that lineup Boston iced last night was pretty shoddy, whereas ours could've passed for an official regular-season squad. And, y'know, the whole goalie thing.
-
So Tatar high-sticked Cleary.

With about 90,000 articles published about Abdelkader yesterday, I thought I'd make a thread. In case you don't know, he really impressed in camp, especially in the scrimmages (goals, assists, hard work, heart, grit). There are those who feel he's poised to take a major step forward. I'm happy about this, because no one seems to know what's up with our official top-six power-forward. (See also: Babcock perhaps indirectly calling Franzen out by expressing his displeasure with the second line of Franzen - Weiss - Alfredsson.) And because "Abby" seems like a good guy. And because we really do need that Homer element on the top line if Z and D are going to be on it. And yet, it seems Babs is still considering putting Cleary on that line. Which rubs me kinda wrong, but I don't want this to be another Cleary thread. So. Abdelkader. Thoughts? Do you like him on the first line, with Z and D? Might he be better placed on the second line, whatever that may be?

I want to marry this game. So much awesome. Actually, we were pretty sloppy. BUT 8 FRIGGIN' GOALS, MAN!

OMG I CAN MAKE THE WINGS DO MY BIDDING

Adam Erne gets three preseason games.
-
I'd say his overall play has declined; he was more effective way back when. But, actually, I wonder if the writer wasn't just acknowledging that he's approaching *that age*, etc.

No, the situation isn't funny, and it is, of course, sad that Mr. Illitch's health is where it is right now. But, I mean, what do you want me, or anyone else, to say? "This sucks"? Kind of a truism, and not much of a conversation starter, IMHO. The "good" news here is it's definitely staying in the family. (Or is it?)

Four preseason games.
-
...to Daniel Cleary.
-
With his luck with injuries, and Alfredsson's shot? Cringe City, IMHO. I'd rather see Miller get a look.
-
I read it was Jeff Hoggan who collided with him. Zetterberg Datsyuk Abdelkader Cleary Weiss Tatar Nyquist Andersson Samuelsson McIntyre Glendening Tootoo Kronwall Ericsson DeKeyser Kindl Lashoff Almquist Howard McCollum

http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130919/SPORTS0103/309190100/1128/rss16 A statement which can, perhaps, be taken to mean more than one thing. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN

Samuelsson in for Franzen? Why why why why why why why why why does Babs have such a raging hard-on for Cleary and Samuelsson?
-
Yes times 100 infinity.
-
Man, lots of injuries all at once. This never happens.
-
MADNESS SPARTA Nyquist - Weiss - Tatar plz kthx.

Hossa was a known; you knew pretty much exactly what you were getting with his services (he's been that consistent), and what you were getting was (and remains) generally very valuable. Provided he wasn't injured. Franzen, on the other hand, was a big question mark. Were these monster playoff runs the real Johan Franzen, or would they prove to be anomalies, outliers? I think, given all that, Holland was wrong to choose Franzen. You choose the known, the proven, the consistent, not the (un)known, no matter how sexy the package may have proven itself to be in the short time you've known it. Ultimately, when all is said and done, Hossa will very likely be remembered as the superior playoff performer. Irony! But, alas, [/deadhorsebrokenrecord] Also, I don't really care what LeBrun has to say either, but I do happen to agree with him here.

The League will consider any idea that might rake in a huge profit. Mo' money, mo' call girls. Still, I do like that they're talking about this stuff.

Khan says Alfredsson has a tender groin, won't be in the lineup tonight.

- I was just reflecting on the time that guy got injured because of that tucked-in jersey. Remember that? - It's Game 7 of the SCF. Tie game, with 1:45 to go in regulation. A player clearly has a tucked-in jersey. He's already been warned once; he gets called (because, damn it, The League is serious about this. Mmkay?) Team scores on the PP. Game over. Everyone in the freaking world hears about it. This is good for the game. - What if it's not clear? Would there be video review? - Don't officials tuck in their sweaters? Why is this ok? What if, when two players are being separated from a brawl, one player accidentally trips on the official's tucked-in jersey and breaks his neck? Then what?
