I tried explaining to a casual fan of hockey how jersey tucking is infinitely more dangerous than, say, body checking, or, say, skating on ice, or, say, falling on ice, or, say, not wearing a visor, or, say, shooting a puck, or, say, being a goalie, or, say, being a referee, or, say, sitting on the bench (pucks get shot there all the time), or, say, sitting in the stands near ice-level (falling pucks). I also tried explaining how jersey tucking is equally as dangerous (2-minute minor) as slashing (2-minute minor), tripping (2-minute minor), cross-checking (2-minute minor), high-sticking (2-minute minor), etc. It left me wondering one thing: if blood is drawn, by a tucked-in jersey, is it four minutes in the box?

Hell, I like 'em both. I do think Tyler's going to be a better all-around player, though.

They should suspend the Blackhawks for being preseason instigators of young, jumpy Red Wings.

Funny thing about the younger Bertuzzi is that he's actually got a very nice skill set (good skater, passer etc.) He's just so hung-up on agitating and fighting and being a tough guy. It'll be interesting to see how he's' brought along and what his all-around maturation will mean for his game.

Steigerwald and Errey are much better than advertised.

It's on again. (I often have the NHL Network on just for "background noise.") Something I don't get: Plekanec gets an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for "dusting" the opposing goalie. On the bench, Gionta says - to himself, basically - "You can call that back, but that's not a penalty." Call it back? What?

I predict this will ultimately result in the creation of an entirely new sort of pest/agitator: the tucker. His sole purpose: to tuck the opposition's jerseys, twice. Or several times. Or dozens of times.

This thread was several hundred infinity times more entertaining than the game. Also this just goes to show how much our two star players mean to this team. You KNOW the outcome would've been different had 37 and 71 been in the lineup tonight.

So glad we don't have to face this team 89 times a season now with realignment.

So I learned something today. And that something is that when Scotty Bowman first took over as coach of the Red Wings in 1993, and he and Steve Yzerman really didn't hit it off, Bryan Murray (!) seriously considered trading The Captain to - wait for it - the Senators. The End

It's a hoax. Like the moon landing. Also, I thought we were past the whole people-thinking-it's-Kronvall-because-omg-Swedish! thing.

Sometimes when I'm listening to radio feeds I take some marbles (or what have you) and try to match them to what I'm hearing. After about two minutes I realize it's incredibly futile and stupid. And then I feel bad.
