The lineup last night, against the Jackets, included Malkin and Neal. So we're probably looking at Crosby, Kunitz, Dupuis. And some other guys.

OK. So. I should start by clarifying a couple of things. Firstly, by "Penguins Nation" I basically meant Pens fans. So, my point was that the Bruins humbled the Pens' fans (on the whole), which - and I guess I was being just a tad facetious here - is almost as difficult as winning the Cup. So, props and kudos to them for that. Secondly, I didn't necessarily mean to say the Bruins are as good as the Blackhawks, just that they're our new "bitter rival." Which is, I concede, maybe kind of a snotty thing to say. ("Hey, we're the Wings. We're amazing. Who's the most amazing team in this place? Boston? OK, they're our new rival.") (Whaaaat??) SensViking, I like your posts. And not just because you're nice to the Wings. Actually, to be honest, I think you may be overestimating the Wings a bit, and maybe even selling the likes of the Bruins short.

I don't want to be That Guy, but the fact that Holland's saying "I like Tatar. I think he's a great player. Certainly the expectation is he'll be one of the 14" doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be one of the 14. Same idea with Babs saying, "The best players will play. It's always been that way as long as I've been here." It doesn't necessarily mean the best players will play, and that contracts and salaries and "veteran presence" have no bearing. (It doesn't necessarily mean "it's always been that way" either.) Samulesson will get a spot, etc. It's kind of admirable that, even in this day and age, people can think a person's word is golden, written in stone, without calculation, entirely open and honest and truthful. I honestly don't mean that in a negative way. [/prick]

To be fair, Holland telling Malik something isn't really 100% confirmation and words written in stone. Has he said this publicly? Holland I mean. Or - not to slight Malik, but - has he said this to any "big names" in the media? I don't mean "Well certainly the expectation is..." I mean that Tatar WILL be one of the 14 forwards. Genuinely curious. Not because I wanna be all like HAAA SEE THERE WHAT DID I TELL YOU, HOLLAND'S A DIRTY LIARRRRR or whatever. I just really want Tatar to get his piece of whatever that thing is Babs is always talking about. (Pie? Cheese? Pizza?) (I'm behind on the news. Normally I'd be on top of this. Pens fans sound just like us now. "Where's the grit?" "We're gonna get pushed around." "We lost because we couldn't score." "Cup or Armageddon." Etc. The Bruins may not have won the Cup, but they seem to have succeeded in doing something that is arguably just as difficult: flat-out humbling Penguins Nation. And for that, I salute them. (Let this be the first and last time I do, as, by all indications and estimations, they're our new Blackhawks.)

Aren't they? I'd be more than ok with using those as a third jersey.
