We're too samey up front, IMHO. Come playoff time, every team knows how to shut down our top six. But, with Abdelkader becoming a serviceable power-forward-type and Franzen heating up, we might actually score this postseason.

I don't see why it has to be one or the other, they care or they don't. Why not just "They don't care enough"? I think that's pretty fitting. Look at what the Stars and Jackets and Flames are doing. Are they better than us? Are they deeper? More talented? Have we played a legitimate three-period, 60-minute game once this season?

I don't think it's a bad analogy at all. Except, yeah, for that part, but that was meant to be a light-hearted allusion to the way we all curse this team's existence (and we all have, at one point or another, or several, or several hundred). I don't think being critical (and, sure, maybe over-critical) of this team warrants a "Then why are you a fan?" I'm a fan because I'm a fan. I've been with this team most of my life. It's in my blood. Sure, it's not literally family, but it has a special place in my heart. When this team does well, I'm here, and I'm not so negative. Because - wait for it - there's not as much to be negative about. What kills me about this roster is, it's good enough to make a very respectable run. It's good enough to decimate any team on any given night. But it doesn't. And typically I blame Holland, because he hasn't fetched such and such a piece. But, honestly, I'm not convinced we'd be any better with a Bobby Ryan or what have you. This team's real problems are, IMHO, in the hearts and minds of its players.

Because I'm a Wings fan? You're a parent. I dunno if you really are or not. (I'm not.) But, you're a parent. And you've got a kid. And this kid, well, he f***s up. A lot. And he's in deep. And some days, you catch yourself wishing he was never born. But, at the end of the day, he's your kid. And you stand by him. Doesn't mean you have to like his s***, though.

We are sucking. I wouldn't bet money on a single win. Do I think we could give, I dunno the Avs a run for their money? Yes. Do I think we could maybe steal a couple against Chicago? Maybe. But I wouldn't bet on it.

The players have to find a way to produce, win, play to their potential. They obviously can't count on getting any help from "above."

WE MAY NEED HIM. FOR SOMETHING.

The way we've been playing...I don't trust us to take a single game against any team in the league in a best-of-seven.

I've been meaning to point this out. Realistically, we're not losing Cleary, Bertuzzi, and Samuelsson all in one offseason - if only because, like we're saying, we'd have no size in the top six.
