Kronwall - White Quincey - Ericsson Colaiacovo - Smith Kindl Jimmy Howard cries.
-
If the price is right. Really, really right.

I've changed my mind. We need a legitimate #1 or #2 to complement Kronwall. Or else we need to stand pat on D (give or take a depth signing or two), maybe look to make a trade up front.

If you could reset the career of one Wings player...
Dabura replied to dirtydangles's topic in General
Good call. If it's any Wing ever, I suppose it's gotta be Vladdy. People don't realize/remember how good #16 really was - and I don't just mean in terms of "what-could've-been..." He was, at the time of the accident, Elite. He was The F***ing Man. He and Nick could've - and I say would've - gone on to become the best pairing in NHL history. I've got a couple decidedly feel-good anecdotes, one featuring Perfect Human Being #5, the other, The Effing Man #16 himself. I don't think I've ever shared them here, not sure why.... -

Bert. If we're talking about the current team. (And hell, maybe all-time as well. Guy was a beast.) -

Should Kronwall have to answer the bell for his hits?
Dabura replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
Hits mess you up. -
We have a gaping hole on our blue line. This gaping hole is not on the third pairing. It's not somewhere in the vicinity of Kindl Land. It's on our first pairing. We lost Nick Lidstrom; we need a #1 or a #2. We can't just plug Kubina into the equation and say, "Y'know...don't ask me why, but I really feel like our D is going to surprise a lot of people this season." Unfortunately, we probably will just plug Kubina in and take up indefinite residence in a lonely place called Denial for much, if not most, of the regular season. Kronwall - White Quincey - Ericsson [Depth Guy] - Smith Kindl I'm not comfortable with that. I'm ok ("ok") with not getting a top-tier partner for Kronwall if we get a second-pairing guy so that we can have one of Ericsson or Quincey on the third with Smith without the second-pairing descending into utter suck. Kronwall - White Quincey - Del Zotto Ericsson - Smith Kindl Or we could get a second-pairing guy and a depth guy. Or we could get a second-pairing guy and place him as a depth guy. o_O I'm not waving a giant flag for Del Zotto. I guess in this context he = any good second-pairing guy we might possibly pursue.

Williams' head is kinda pumpkin-like. That has to count for something. Like, you're a player, and you're playing against the Williams Era Wings, and you're looking down at the puck...and then you look up, and--HOLY S***!!! IS THAT GUY'S HEAD A PUM...wait, no, it's definitely not a pumpkin! (And by this point Datsyuk has picked his pocket and yadda yadda.) I'm just saying.

I want to see us make the playoffs.

Thoughts on Del Zotto? Maybe Kenny hits the bottle early one morning, and one bottle becomes two bottles, and two bottles becomes seventeen bottles, and seventeen bottles becomes mescaline, and....

They need the Mrs. in the stands/press box. Tickets don't sell themselves.

We're gonna start a revolution.

Hartnell - Giroux - Simmonds B. Schenn - Briere - Voracek Fedotenko - Couturier - Talbot Shelley - Read - Rinaldo I melt. That wasn't Management's plan until Management was left with no other option. (Suter, Parise, Nash, Doan, 1st-rounder for Quincey, et al.) Just sayin'.

Kronwall's pretty much our most important player now, IMO. If he goes down for, say, two months? Imagine a two-month-long losing streak. -
The thought of Brunner and Helm on the same line almost gives me goosebumps.
-
I'll be surprised and impressed (and pleased!) if Brunner holds down his spot in the top-6 through the whole season. (Assuming there is a whole season....) Nyquist is the smart choice. He may not be a pure scorer like Brunner, and, indeed, Brunner may very well outscore him this season. But Nyquist is the better all-around player at this point in time. He knows, and has excelled in, the North American game. He's "The Red Wings' Next Euro-Wizard." Great hands, great vision, great playmaking ability, great two-way game, great hockey IQ. At the very least, we'll get great D from him and a whole lot of assists (IMHO). My Monopoly money's on the Swede.

Abdelkader/Emmerton/Tootoo over Miller/Abdelkader/Tootoo? Objectivity, Cory. Objectivity.
-
He's a left wing. Not that this kinda thing is law or written in stone, but for a guy like Gus (playmaker, passer) ideally you use him on his natural wing. And Flip seems to work very well on Z's left.
-
I didn't put a lot of thought into it. Here: Nyquist - Datsyuk - Franzen Filppula - Zetterberg - Brunner Bertuzzi - Helm - Cleary Miller - Abdelkader - Samuelsson Eaves, Tootoo I'm sure someone will have a problem with this one as well.

Seems to be getting a lot of buzz, but I don't know if it's built on anything super-credible or confirmed. I'd love for it to happen. EDIT: Actually, not as much buzz as I'd thought. Which for me actually makes it feel more credible, for whatever reasons.
