No one seems to be picking up on this. The Wings were absolutely owning up until that point. Then they got gassed, and then the Pens' fresh-legged roleplayers magically found that extra gear. This isn't rocket science.

The number of penalties that have been called is sort of a moot point; I just want to know that the calls have been made consistently with clear standards. Unfortunately, that's been a problem throughout this run. In that sense, the problem is more a matter of consistency than one of parity. If, however, parity is leading to problems with consistency...well, then there's a big problem.

srsly Any kind of message he was looking to send will henceforth and forever be overshadowed by a different one should he ever return: punch him in the head and his career could be over. His priorities are his health, getting back on the ice, and playing again regularly. Fighting shouldn't even be a consideration.

It was. I'm not justifying it or rationalizing it. I'm speaking more to the folks who suddenly think the Pens are an unstoppable juggernaut. Their season was on the line and they played like it, with everything working in their favor. And they barely squeezed out a win. I don't know, maybe I'm insane, but that doesn't scream PANIC BUTTON to me.

I said this in another thread, but I think it bears repeating here: The Pens played like their season was on the line, in their building, with all of two penalties called against them (both in the third), and against an opponent that barely showed up. And they just barely won. What does that tell you?
