I love Dave Strader's work. I think Doc is solid overall. The reason I harp on the things Ed says is because, frankly, he says things worth harping on. Which is a nice way of saying he's a jackass.

I guess this rules out my "ruse" theory. You don't miss two games of the SCF unless it's really serious. I'm reluctant to say it's a broken foot. I don't think he'd be day-to-day with a broken foot. I'm thinking it could instead be a deep bruise, like Kira suggested, or maybe a minor fracture. I fractured the growth plate in my foot once and the recovery trajectory was totally erratic.

This. Not to knock the guy, but I've said a few times before that I think the big reason Babs doesn't play him in the regular season is so that he can fire on all cylinders come the postseason. Which is fine with me, seeing as how the postseason is all that matters.

1. They're both great talents 2. They do benefit from playing in the EC (ultimately, though, this could stunt their development, as others have mentioned) 3. The Wings know how to smother them. That is to say: they disappear, yes, but only because they're forced into invisibility 4. If I could have one of Getzlaf and Crosby on my team, I'd pick the former. I don't think there's a more dominant, imposing forward in the league 5. Pens suck
