I'll bet at least half of those were in the neutral zone. I saw way too many overlong passes when it's brutally obvious that the 'hawks are clogging that space.

I've decided this is why our checkers and role players are converting while our scorers aren't. Cleary, Helm -- they shoot. No nonsense.

How can you miss the net from six feet away? I don't care if you're aiming high -- that's absurd.

lol Side note: what separates Perry from The Turtle is Perry's skill. As much of an epic, undeniable ****** as he is, guy's got game. Turtle was just a one-dimensional ****** bag

    Quietly the Playoff King

I see a lot of people talking up Stuart. He's elevated his play, absolutely. But he's a long way from being this team's MVP -- let alone the playoff MVP. Nick is this team's heart and soul, its backbone, its lifeblood, its leader. Where a guy like Mule can check out for a game, Nick is always there doing his job. He looked human for some stretches in this series, but that's about 2% human time versus 98% god-like time.

    Hand Shake Moment

Do I feel bad? Depends on who we're talking about. In Hiller's case, yes, I do. He's not a goon. He played great hockey and was there for his team, and ultimately his team wasn't there for him. And for the deciding goal to be as controversial as it was...that's tough. I'd like to see him get out of that organization.

    Getzlaf

Haterade much? Picture Crosby and Ovechkin playing in the West. Now picture Getzlaf playing in the East.

    Wings V. Hawks. Early predictions

And like I've said, the 'hawks' lack of a line on par with the Ducks' first line is a huge difference -- ultimately in the Wings' favor. It allows the Wings to go back to playing a line-for-line, man-for-man, battle-for-battle series, as opposed to pouring half their resources into shutting down three guys.

    Wings V. Hawks. Early predictions

The Ducks made a system out of it. Actually, forget the team's system -- the entire organization is built around it. And it shows: they play it phenomenally well, and it works against the Wings, the best team in the league. The 'hawks' can play a rough game. That's great. But they don't organize themselves around that style of play and dedicate themselves to it the way the Ducks do. Really, the fact that the statement is "can play" instead of "do play" speaks volumes. The Ducks are able to really take it to the Wings because they're all about that kind of play. They embody it. Unless a team is all about that style of play in the way the Ducks are, that team is not going to be able to take it to the Wings the way the Ducks do.
