I think Wings-Hawks would be interesting. Every game would go scoreless through the first two periods, then both teams would realize there's a game going on and score like crazy in the third. Also: my god do the Wings own Joel's life.

That comparison doesn't really hold. This current Wings team knows how to make life utterly miserable for any goalie in the NHL, no matter what his name is, no matter what defensive corps. is in front of him. The '03 team, in contrast, stuck to the perimeter like pansies.

Hiller is mega-overrated. He takes the low % shots well, like any NHL goalie will. But mix things up, even just a bit, and he loses his composure and starts flopping around. And not in a cool Hasek-esque way.

Fights are rarely just about the fights themselves; they're games within games, strategically speaking. And from a strategic standpoint, I thought this was a smart move on Kopy's part. As other have already said, the Wings lost a scrub while the Ducks lost a #4 defenseman -- definitely a worthwhile trade. Sure, the crowd might have gotten riled up, but the Wings are simply too experienced and professional to let the home crowd get to them.
